She did not know she was going to want to stay and live here, fortunately her roommate was able to document her and give her a job and place to live. My mother's dad, my grandpa, moved here on account of military and met my grandma. Here, they fell in love and decided they wanted to start a family in the States. They struggled with a lot of what immigrants are struggling with now, people saying immigrants bring diseases, gangs, and drugs. Beside the fads in the U.S. at this time, she also came here during the Martin Luther King Assassination. This didn't really affect her that much since she just came and didn't understand why or how that could happen. However, it did frighten her considering this was the first event in America she witnessed.
