Yes, I've heard about email etiquettes. Email is the reflection of yourself so it should be good, clear and appropriate. Some of the instances where email would be more appropiate that texting is by the following ways:-
1. In email you'll not use slangs.
2. Be clear with your subject line and also subject line should match with the message.
3. It should be short and on point.
4. Keep it clean.  And don't respond angrily.
