But it was as easy as you think it is. Curiosity had to go through a lengthy process to get to mars. First, it had to wait half a year to get to the red planet. Then, it had to go through the atmosphere like a meteor until its parachute deployed. Eventually, rockets deploy, and its heat shield and shell come off.
