When you buy a phone, you know that you own the phone, and it is fully yours to do as you wish. The company that sold you the phone doesn’t believe that, they still own your phone, the operating system, and everything on the side of the phone’s hardware. Those companies when you damage your phone, the phone company wants you to go to them to get it fixed, but the problem with that is they charge you a heavy price for it, so most people would just buy the parts and fix it themself. Now is this where the phone company takes it too far, they programmed your phone which disables a feature if it was not repaired by their own staff. This makes people just want to buy a new phone and throw away the broken one. When people throw away their devices it creates what we know as E-waste, many devices now have batteries in them, and those batteries are harmful when they are punctured, they produce harmful gas and can catch on fire. The phone also contains materials like copper, aluminum, and iron, which when they are being burned produce a harmful gas into the atmosphere. The right to repair law prevents this, its purpose is to allow the owner of the device to do DIY repair without voiding the warranty, or the company disabling anything feature for DIY repair. People can use nature to create electricity such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. This source is a great way to create energy without harming the planet, although it has some draw back, including it needs to be in a specific condition to create electricity, but it is a good start for a better renewable future.
