My family has a knack for being brutally honest. Several of our jokes revolve around our favorite movies, but the majority are sarcastic jabs at each other. We can be relentless in our teasing, especially my brothers towards me. But this leaves us all with pretty thick skin, so it can be pretty hard to actually hurt any of our feelings.

The Decision Maker

My family is the epitome of a 'Yours, mine and ours' family. My older brothers are my Mother's children and my sister is my Father's child, but I am the link that joins us all together. As a result of these different allegiances that each child has had growing up, it has been difficult to coordinate the 'Type A' decision maker. Though as the major breadwinner in the family, my Dad has taken over the role of leading the family on our next destinations.

Competition vs. Cooperation

My parents always encouraged us to compete. They put each of the kids into sports to learn hard work and determination. They wanted us to learn teamwork too, but the main focus was on striving for success and always putting your best effort into anything that you try. They never liked us to quit anything and if we didn't like doing something we were always told to at least see it to the end and then make up our minds.

Church attendance was very seldom growing up. We attended mass before and after all holidays though. The focus was never on one belief though, my parents always wanted us to make up our own beliefs. Instead, they took my siblings and I outside constantly. Every weekend was spent in the mountains. The focus was more on appreciating what we have been given and making use of the world around us.

Both of my Grandfathers were extremely successful businessmen. As a result, we always treated them with the utmost formalities. They were revered in my family and everyone of my siblings and cousins had the goal of becoming successful themselves.
