I have printed off the learning goal and scale and had students evaluate themselves as a "pretest" or pre-assessment at the beginning of the unit. Students have either used checkmarks or have highlighted the I Cans they think they know. At the end of the unit they can do the same process as a post-assessment.

I add a chart to the bottom where they date it, give their current learning goal #, reflect on why and then reflect on what they're going to do next to improve. I think I'm going to start having them highlight terms also.

Some goals and scales are communicated by pushing them out into Google Classroom. Goals and scales are posted in classrooms. We struggle with referring back to the goals and scales in the middle of the lesson or unit. We included vocabulary in #2 intentionally so that the terms will become familiar to the students through out the unit. It would be wonderful if there was a way to connect our goals and scales to formative assessments that can plot the level the student is at right on to the scale. Like the badges without the ability to "cheat".

I plan to try it with my students to collaborative and share knowledge from 1 of the 5 Article of the Day. Another way I would use it to track their progress on the LG and Scale
