Use of Wiki

I have gathered a lot of useful information regarding both of the websites presented. The pbworks website seems to be somewhat familiar to google drive as in it allows you to share and collaborate with multiple people on subjects but the pbworks offers a much more broader selection of subjects to choose from. And with educational wikis, this sight is more of a global discussion board. Whenever you as an educator have a question regarding a piece of technology, that is the place to go. The pbworks website would be very useful in a school setting because you can access just about any information regarding case studies, articles, wikis and so on over a wide variety of topics. With educational wikis, you would use this for more of if you have a question over how to use something or if there is such a thing as whatever idea you've came up with has been invented or something. Then this would be the place to go for that. i would recommend using both websites to other educators, i would especially use pbworks, the educational wikis can be helpful too in its own aspect.

Concept Mapping

After reviewing both websites, a lot of good can be done. I really didn't understand a mind map before reviewing the websites but now I see them as a way to collect all your thoughts and ideas together and save and share them with others. You can use this in a school setting by setting up units. You can you can have a couple lessons tie in with standards and connect them to make it easier to collect the lessons for the week. I would recommend WiseMapping but i would not recommend bubbl.us. I say that because WiseMapping lets you and fellow colleagues keep track and share eachothers mind maps. You can involve your whole teacher staff or even a business with WiseMapping. While you can share with Bubbl.us, you are limtied to just sharing individually and not throughout a big network like WiseMapping.

Movie Making

I never really thought of using a movie maker in a school setting unless it was for a technology class but it could come in handy for more situations than one may think. Not only could you make movies and short clips, but you could also save pictures and make collages which can be shared between other members of Kizoa. This would more than likely be a final project type of assignment if it were to be used in a school setting. This could also be used to save pictures of field trips or class trips and have the study make a short film or a collage to document the trip instead of them writing a short paper over it. I would recommend this to someone or some school who is in need of a shareable movie making website. But I also wouldn't recommend it because you rarely ever use or have a need to us a movie maker so getting one could end up being pointless.

They offer everything from constructing a quiz to playing educational games, this is the place to go. This website could help out teachers of all grade levels. Definitely recommend this website to teachers.

If you as a teacher are looking for ways to incorporate technology into the learning of kids with special needs or disabilities. Than look no further than these two websites. If you have a child who has a speech impediment or someone who has speaking troubles, then ISpeech.org is the place to go. They offer an app which allows you to take a text lets you hear it verbally. They have this text-to-speech technology that allows for this to happen. GPAT is also a great source becuase they offer a variety of ideas to utilize technology in assisting the education of kids with disabilities. These websites can be utilized in multiple ways and I would recommend both websites to teachers.

At first when I heard bout the idea of using comics in class I thought it wasn't a very good idea. But then I dug deeper into the website and it explained all the benefits that they have seen the comics bring to a classroom and it changed my whole opinion about this topic. I believe that they could be useful in a classroom, but only if it were an English class. There are multiple packages they offer for schools but I still don't think that at those prices they would be worth it. Comics could be useful but only in an English and maybe a social studies class, but not in math or science. I do recommend this to an Englsh teacher but I do not recommend this to a school or educator.

I bet the people who created YouTube had no idea that it could have a positive effect in the classroom but just in the past few years, YouTube has become one of the more popular websites teachers use in their classrooms when it comes to showing videos. What started out as a website that received and broadcasted hilarious videos is now one of the more used sites in a school. I have been a student and have observed in a class where we have watched YouTube clips for educational purposes. Many teachers of all grade levels utilize YouTube because they contain countless videos that cover just about any topic you can think of. If you can't find a video on YouTube then you wont find it anywhere. I recommend teacher use YouTube but only in moderation because too much of a good thing is a bad thing. If you watch too long of a video then children could fall asleep.

Prezi often draws comparisons to Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides. But Prezi does offer a wider variety of transitions and formats to present a topic. Although Prezi has revolutionized the art of presentation, it can be quite tricky to apprehend and understand especially the younger the student was.I have used Prezi a couple of times throughout my schooling and it took me two or three Prezis to finally get the hang of it. Elementary aged kids and even lower middle school aged kids would probably struggle with Prezi but high school students should be able to grasp the concept. i would only recommend this to high school teachers because middle school aged kids could struggle with this. They still have just gotten the idea of powerpoint and Prezi could be too much for them.

PicLit is a site that allows you to view copious amounts of photos and add your own comment or edit the picture with your own key words. The whole idea is to inspire young minds into what the picture is all about. This is to get you to think deeply and explore all possibilities. I can see this being utilized in a high school English class but other than that it probably would not be used anywhere else. Other than to English teachers, I would not recommend this to other teachers.

CommonLit is almost like an online library. CommonLit has a huge selection of fiction and non-fiction documents and informational texts. These documents are more geared towards students anywhere between 5th-12th grade. These Documents contain mostly historical content so both English and social studies teachers could have a field day with this website. CommonLit is also free to any teacher and student who chooses to make an account with them. An English teacher could utilize this by having kids by searching and reading on a certain topic and then writing a small excerpt over what they read and a social studies teacher could utilize this by planning a whole lesson over one of these documents. This site can be very beneficial and i recommend it to any social studies and English teacher.
