one night he met muse b. with her, he found a certain comfort that he had with no one else. he told her dreams and interests that he tried to avoid giving second thoughts to, not wanting to raise his hopes and steer him away from his destined path. she made him feel like anything was possible, even suggesting one night that they should just runaway and do whatever their hearts wanted.

they had their bags ready, but they never made it to the next city. he could not go further, thus ending their short lived romance that felt like a dream. years have passed, he continued following the same tiring path that has him nearly burnt out. however, he and muse b meet again. could things work this time around? or is he too late?

with their abilities, they perform various tasks and responsibilities. they can clean homes, work on wall street, and even perform surgeries. however, it is popular to have cognitives that are programed to assist with humans’ social lives. many are programed to be a human’s perfect companion, whether for friendship, love, or sex. they are tested to match with their assigned human’s needs, personality, and behavior. their words may sounds genuine, but they are all manufactured at the end of the day, controlled by a program that tells them what is and is not appropriate for their human and current situation.

muse a and muse b, cognitive #408hme, have been together for four years. muse a was devastated from a breakup. basic tasks were a struggle, even forcing themselves to eat a small snack. it was only when muse a’s family and friends bought muse b, to help muse a. while it took time, muse a gradually healed. while muse a knew deep down that muse b was not capable of real emotions and their words and actions were artificial, it did not matter because it felt real.

it was not until one night after a visit to a gallery. muse b would describe the artwork in great detail like how the painter used a certain technique or the shades of a particular color. whenever they were asked about how the artwork made them feel, it was always indescribable. that night though, something changed.

muse b cried. why was there a sensation of pain that they could not locate, one that did not trigger an alarm for injuries. why did they feel a flutter whenever muse a passed them. from that night on, muse a and b had to figure out what the future had in store for them. was muse b’s emotions for a real or a glitch in the system? if they were real, who was muse b?

personality: a femme fatale. some would find her admirable for her ascent into power, others would see more like an evil dog without morals and dignity. ambition never seemed to run through her veins. she accepted her status, wanting a comfortable life with her family. once she experienced discrimination because of her status, her hunger grew. she lost sight of her motivations, instead led by a need for power and wealth. she’s willing to do whatever it takes, has little empathy for others, leading to those she loved abandoning her. if it wasn’t for her status and gender, nothing would hold her back.

they were each other's rocks on personal and professional levels. they respected each other's skills and crafts as creatives in the industry, always asking each other for advice, opinion, and help. as their careers blew up, they had their own blow outs and break ups in between. however, they always got back together until muse b met muse c, who eventually became muse b's longtime partner. muse a never got over that, thinking that muse b would never come back to muse alike the many other times. years passed, but lately muse a has been experiencing a slump in his/her career. rather than a lack of projects coming in, muse a's not fully sure what they wants to do. there's so much to choose from, yet the uncertainty does get to muse a. rather than going through the piles of scripts and branching out, muse a locks himself up in his place doing nothing. seeing this, muse a's agent decides to send muse a off to a tropical vacation. meanwhile he asks muse b, who recently broke up with muse c, to talk to muse a. it's been years since they have really talked, but muse a's agent knows that muse b might be able to get to muse a

muse a is a strong independent woman. some would say a bit rough around the edges, but that is compliment in muse a's eyes. as a secret agent, she is always on a mission in a location that no one would ever know, unless they had a death wish. if she isn't on a mission, she is typically galavanting somewhere across the word. she never had real roots since she left home at 18. relationships were rare, aside from her family that she tried her best to keep in touch with and one relationship that ended from the thought of settling down.

he is not like the others she has been with. he doesn't want a casual fling. he wants her and accepts every part of her.

he brings out a softer side of her, but one that comes with dangerous territory: he makes her vulnerable. for once, she's scared for someone other than herself.

background: muse a was the daughter of a famous director, who started his own production company that she would eventually take over. she proved that she wasn't born with a silver spoon. instead, she set her table and only welcomed those worthy enough to sit at it. every film she touched became a blockbuster hit, but that was muse a. she simply didn't have just the midas touch. she didn't play the game, she made her own rules.

personality: some would call her a siren. others, a goddess. she was beautiful, but that was not her only weapon. she was bold and charismatic. whatever she set her sights on, she would sink her claws into it and never let go. fiery and frank, she was not afraid to speak her mind as she marched to the beat of her own drum. despite her bravado, she was still vulnerable as she did her best to remain strong. she was a fighter.

note: there's a twist to her character, but i'll reveal it once you ask. also she's most likely older than muse b.

plot and relationship with muse b: they were each other's greatest love and greatest downfall. she challenged him in ways no else would ever dare, but to her he wasn't just the golden boy. she saw the vulnerable boy deep down inside, but didn't reject him for it. instead, she embraced almost everything about him and somehow still loved him completely without any consideration of herself.

muse b was in love, but mad and obsessed. with her, it was them against the world. she could never be the partner that the world couldn't accept, alone his family. despite his pleading and fighting to give her a chance, he had his own share of secrets that he could not reveal just yet.

however, it was these same secrets and obsession that would lead them to their downfall. this same downfall that would leave muse b to keep her at a distance, never truly letting her go. he can only cling onto what little bit he has of her left.

relationship: a toxic/obsessive proxy mirroring relationship. there’s unfinished grief, misplaced affection, and inherited delusion. they’re is a dysfunctional cycle pretending to be desire and lust, but it’s just unfinished business between the two that will destroy them.

muse a was only twenty when she started dating his father, who was an icon to her. despite him being in his late forties and having children closer to her age, he was handsome, charming, and magnetic. he touched something deep in her that no one else could understand or reach. she fell for him, losing every bit of herself in him. just the thought of being away from him ached her. he was her sun, moon, earth, and stars. he influenced everything her said and did.

he never publicly acknowledged her, claiming that it was for his children’s sake. she accepted it. he always had a reason and she learned to never deny him. she was never a secret, but a shadow and companion when it suited him, but tossed to the side when it was convenient. still she dreamt of a future with him, one with marriage and children. yet, as the years passed, he did little to fulfill his promises. instead, a monster soon appeared, revealing his own dark nature as he dragged and twisted her into something sinister. at first he would make her feel special one moment, but soon pull away the next. she remained in the shadows until a magazine not influenced by victor reported on the relationship.

it was then, he paraded her around like the beautiful trophy girlfriend. in private though, he would become emotionally absent and critical of her. yet it was in this private setting, she saw the closest thing to the true victor. she saw his fears and vulnerabilities, especially with his youngest son, levi. 

at twenty-nine, she left when she discovered another affair. she realized he would never follow through with his promises of marriage and children. she was never enough for him. however, it only crushed her when a year later he married the other woman, even having a son with her. she gave him her best years, the best of her, her all. all victor left her was an ache and questioning of why it was never her.

then muse b reappeared. 

he was like victor, a myth and his spitting image. he was younger, emotionally raw, and desperate. a boy that wanted to understand the same man that rejected them both. soon the two plunged deep into a relationship and intimacy built on grief, rejection, and understanding. 

she wanted to her revenge, reclaim her youth, and continue her story that never gave her closure through muse b. if she couldn’t be his father's future, she would take his mirror and his biggest fear. there were times she swore muse b was his father, but then she had to remember they were different people. for muse b, she gave him the answers he wanted and understanding. as always, he had to follow his father’s way. 

she didn't know who she was without them. she told herself she’s in control, using muse b the way his father used her. however, when she looked in the mirror, all she saw is someone wanting to be chosen once more. not just by a man who’s no longer there, but by a boy who didn't know who he was. 

yet as the relationship progressed between them, she soon realized how eerily the two men mirrored each other. she was in the same position once again with father and son with her past repeating. muse b was becoming the father he resented, slowly turning into a monster too that used her. unlike his father, who she gave her life to, muse b gave her meaning. he was obsessed with her, wanted to conquer her, but also wanted to be loved by her. they were locked in a power struggle neither could win, desperate not to lose to each other or his father.

it was from that day on, muse a did everything they could to help make muse b's dreams come true. they thought they found their best friend the perfect partner, a gentle quiet soul. it was all muse a could do for muse b, despite their love for them. muse a could never settle down with muse b, especially with the history muse a had.

what muse a didn't know was that muse b loved them too, but never said a word.

relationship: toxic on-off exes

whenever muse a returned to muse b's life, it was a clear sign that something disastrous would follow soon afterwards. despite the bad luck that followed muse a, somehow these two always found their way back to each other. there was nothing good between them. they were an unhealthy rollercoaster with a ticking time bomb. however, they were like two moths to a flame.

muse a hates oat milk. he hated it before he met muse b and now he abhors it since she came and left his life.

as much as he hates to say it, muse a experienced colpo di fulmine or a strike of lightning when he first encountered muse b. he thought there was no beginning, middle, or end with her. despite his own stumbling and fumbling from nerves that never ended around her, he somehow conjured up a friendship with her. he found himself in a situation where for once if someone asked him to jump, he would ask how high. his mind was consumed by her, something he loved and hated. heck, he drank matcha oat milk lattes for her and he detested them. at some point, he found himself ordering them and stopped tasting the oddly thick textured "milk" entirely around her.

what didn't help was that there was a push and pull from her. she treated him in a way that belonged nowhere, too intimate and gentle for acquaintances, too fleeting for love. it was the little touches, her grabbing his hand during a conversation and picking nonexistent specks from his hair. the talks they had were deep and intense, especially for the short time they knew each other.

despite the mixed signals, he stayed. with her, he existed without history, expectations, or reputation. just a man who drank a drink he hated with a friend that teetered into dangerous territory.

yet, perhaps karma did strike for his past relationships when he found out about muse b's partner, who she never seemed to talk about. once he heard the news from someone else, suddenly messages turned into silence. months later, he sometimes finds himself close to ordering matcha with oat milk.
