   Although this short exposure of rats to drugs of abuse may reflect the first and second trimester in humans, it does not simulate the human drug addict experience that start usually in adolescence and continues through adulthood and then through out pregnancy.

Pregnancy alone carries a number of complications, but adding meth takes the ricks to a whole new level.  High blood pressure, Eclampsia and Abrupted Placenta are just some of the affects of using meth during a pregnancy. Studies have shown that that one quarter of pregnancy meth users have uncontrolled high blood pressure and could lead to kidney problems, heart problems, stroke and pre eclampsia. Eclampsia is a condition that affects the placenta and can an impact in the mother's kidneys, liver and even her brain. This is the second leading cause of death of women who take meth during their pregnancy. A Placenta is an organ in the uterus of pregnant mammals. When a Placenta is abrupted the placenta tears away from the uterine wall and causes the mother to heavy bleed and can lead to death.
