It is sometimes called the "pork worm" because it is usually found in under cooked pork. It was first discovered in a larval form in 1835. Trichinella Spiralis is the smallest known nematode parasite of humans. The body of the worm is more slender at the anterior end than at the posterior end. The females are about twice the size of the males. The adult female produce batches of live larvae. The larvae bore through the intestinal wall and enter the blood and lymphatic system and are carried to the muscle where they encyst or become enclose into a capsule.
