Greta Garbo, Hollywood film actress, became the look that all women craved. Garbo's style was flat chested, square shoulders, narrow hips and long legs. Women started developing Garbo's posture called the "slouch".

There was no American fashion designers yet to appear, so women would look to Paris to get the most current fashion style. Beginning in 1913, Coco Chanel, introduced the new style to young women in France. Eventually her styles became known in America because of men in the war being interested in the beautiful French women. Men then wanted their wives to start dressing like the French women.

(Lehman, 15)

There was a change with the hairstyles and hair accessories. The popular hairstyle starting in 1923 was the shaggy bob. The shaggy bob was short, wavy and curled in toward the jaw line. The women's favorite accessory for the shaggy bob was the grosgrain band. The grosgrain band was tight around the head while hugging the forehead down towards the eyes.
(Wilcox, 163)

Eventhough it seems like men's fashion hasn't changed in many years, men in the 1920s wore suits that had designs or patterns on them making them unique. Men went all out with their suits in the 1920s leaving them wearing cumber buns, snap brim felt hats and brown suede shoes.
(Lehman, 41)

Bathing suits in the 1920's were made based off of style and not efficiency. The bathing suits were made from wool that way people would stay warm in the water. These bathing suits gave women more curves, the necklines dropped to V necks, and the arm holes grew bigger. Overtime swimwear became shorter and police would walk around the beach with a tape measure in hand. The police would measure the length between a girls knee and the bottom of the swimsuit. if the qualifications were not met the women would get a fine of $10 or possibly be arrested.
(Ward, 14)
