The American dream plays a role in the Great Gatsby because everyone is trying to climb to the top and want to be more sucessful. Some people are born into money and others have to endure more than others. The American dream is about opportunity and Gatsby takes an opportunity with Daisy

The American dream plays a great role in the Great Gatsby. The American dream is a set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success, and an upward social mobility for the family and children, achieved through hard work in a society with few barriers. Just like the Great Gatsby, many of the people in the book strive to have a better life such as Jay Gatsby. That's why everyone in the book tries to be something they're not. While driving to the land of opportunity, they see how see how anyone no matter race or religion can make it symbolized within the blacks in the car being driven by the white man. Also how its hard to make it here if you aren't driven but its so easy to fall symbolized in the funeral.

What is the American dream? My group has come to the conclusion that the American dream is the pursuit of happiness, hope and bettering ones self. This theme is showed and has a major role in The Great Gatsby in several occasions. In a majority The Great Gatsby the "American Dream" is a source of hope for a lot of the characters, one of these characters includes Nick who states several times in the book that he believed "anything can happen now... anything at all". Nick Isnt the only character to hold these beliefs, Gatsby is a huge example of this (alothough not shown as well at this point in time)

What role does the American dream play in The Great Gatsby?
Our group said that the role it has in the story is that people that come to the city have high hope of achieving the American dream, but inside the city there is no american dream it's just an illusion. An illusion that everybody that goes in the city expecting to be rich, but realizing money means nothing. When he says that he is saying that a Gastby started with nothing, but now he is rich out of nowwhere, so anything can happen even Gastby. No one knows where the dream will take them especially Gatsby.

The role the American dream plays In the great Gatsby is while Gatsby is driving in his "splendid car" in southwestern Europe, people look at it with tragedy in their eyes. The American dream is filled with opportunity and the people truly see it when Gatsby drives on the bridge in the car that. eventually that could be them.

sorry it wasn't filled with all the details I intended
