Selecting a designated, announced time, a period when students were already in class, settled in, with teachers and students alerted was not a true assessment of potential danger. Many teachers had their doors set to lock and did not permit students to take the hall pass. Most of the school shootings have happened during school day starts or when students are released in mass (as in a fire drill) situation.
