         <title>Predator - pray relationships in my BioArea</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In every ecosystem there are numerous elements of functional ecological diversity, such as the various types of relationships that can occur among the species that inhabit them. One of the most common types of such interactions is predation, where one species is using the other as its source of food, thus making the former a predator and the latter its prey. <br><br>One example of such a relation in my BioArea is between larvae of different species of the <em>Drilus </em>family of beetles and multiple species of the<em> Albinaria </em>family of snails. The mentioned beetles are specialized predators of land snails. It is actually estimated that 24% of empty snail shells in Crete show evidence of fatal holes caused by beetles.<br><br>Another example is the relation between the endemic plant species <em>Zelkova abelicea, </em>which is considered vulnerable by IUCN and is being overgrazed by (among others) goats, <em>Capra aegagrus hircus. <br><br></em><br></div>]]></description>
