Timbuktu was the first city that we passed through on our journey to Mecca. One of the first things I saw when we got to Timbuktu was this gigantic building it was called the Sankore university. We learned that the Sankore university gave free education to the Islamic scholars from all around the world. It was built thanks to Mansa Musa. As a minor official one of the coolest things that not everyone has the opportunity to be able to do is the ability to read and write so when we went to the Sankore university where they were teaching more people that were Islamic to read and write. The picture is a picture of the Sankore university.

After visiting the city of Taghaza we made it to the city of Cairo where Mansa Musa had a huge affect on the economy and inflation that the gold actually had lost some of its value. When we visited Cairo Mansa Musa didn't only spread gold to the city but he also spread religion. This is a picture of the city Cairo

Finally we reached the city of Mecca. I was so happy we had fulfilled the Five Pillars of Islam. When we reached the city of Mecca we went to the Kaaba which if you didn't know is Islams holiest place, we go there to pray. The journey was long and grueling and the rations of food and water were meager but it was worth it. As i have fulfilled my religion. When we got to the Kaaba we had to gather in circles around the Kaaba 7 times in total but the first 3 times were really fast then we walked around it 4 more times at a walking pace. This is a picture of the Kaaba

Finally as we rap up our journey to Mecca we head back to our home town of Niani. Even though this trip was a once in a lifetime opportunity I am very glad to be heading back home. I've missed my family and friends and even my town very much. I was very glad i was able to be a part of something so near and dear to my heart. As we finally got home the people of Niani lined the streets for our return. As i saw my family I ran to them and was very glad to be back. This is a picture of my home town.
