The woman wore heavy makeup around the eyes. They liked piling the makeup on even though they didn't have makeup remover to take it off. The popular colours were, pink, blue and purple.

Only the wealthiest families could afford to go away on planes and even then there wasn't many destinations to choose from. Most families could only afford to go away in the UK. Butlins was popular after the post- war(war 2). The reason why it was popular to Travel only around the UK is because it wasn't safe to travel around in other areas as the War was still taking place. People that could travel abroad, took the risk.

People were amazed by it and it grew incredible amounts because of it. Before the internet was invented, people had to communicate on land lines or if you was lucky enough by a Phone which was a size of a brick but you had to have the battery pack with. The first phone was invented in roughly 1980's. 

The first messaging service online is MSM which was a chat Service. 

As you can tell by now that the Social media has grown since the internet has been around, you now have the Facebook, Twitter.
