It combines elements of African-American gospel music, rhythm and blues and jazz. Soul also became popular around the world, directly influencing rock music and the music of Africa.
Soul dominated the U.S.A R&B chart in the 1960, and many recordings crossed over into the pop charts in the U.S.A, Britain and elsewhere.
I really liked this genre, these songs relax, soothe the soul and mind.

The term's original meaning was broader, referring to a generation of musicians unified by their collective debt to either the musical style or simply the independent, DIY ethos of punk rock, which in the late 1970 laid the groundwork for alternative music.
I like to listen to alternative rock, I began to listen to it very often, it turns out I have a lot of favorite bands that sing in this genre.
