When I am scrolling through TikTok, I always find posts about shows or things that are relevant to my life. I am currently watching Derry Girls, an Irish sitcom, and this video just highlights one of my favorite parts of the show. The series is centered on four school girls from Derry, Northern Ireland, and their English friend James. James is an outsider not only cause he is English but because he is a boy forced to attend an all-girls school. In every episode, the four girls always find something to make fun of James for, even if it's the slightest action.

I am a huge tennis fan. I try to keep up with the tennis channel as much as I can. Rafael Nadal happens to be my favorite player. I have watched every final of his, every grand slam title, and every French Open. I saw this article a few days ago and it made me sad because he is very passionate about his sport. He is from Spain and is known for being the King of clay court. Seeing him have a hard time and start to get injured before his favorite grand slam has got to be hard. He will be missed if he can't play this year.

I'm a huge geek about city planning, and this is a really interesting and informative video about the various problems with American suburban development (it is sometimes a tad vulgar though). Santa Barbarian suburbs are an interesting case because we don't have ridiculous sprawl due to differences in planning and better density planning, but they're imperfect, and in cities like Los Angeles and San Jose the full extent of ridiculous suburban sprawl can be seen.

Harry Styles used to be in a boyband named One Direction but his solo career has been very successful as well. He recently released a single after a few years of working on new music. His new album is actually set to come out May 20th! I like the music he makes because I can relate to some songs on a really deep level and with other songs I can just dance to without having to have a strong connection to it. He is also very stylish with people comparing him to David Bowie, Mick Jagger, and Elton John. This song has emotional lyrics but a dancing beat. It's about his parents divorce as well as going through big changes. I hope other people can enjoy at least one song of his!

I grew up in the SF Bay Area so naturally I am a Golden State Warriors fan. I have been a fan since 6th grade, and enjoy watching the games with my friends or family. I think mental health is a cause that most people aren't aware of or don't fully understand if they don't struggle with it, so I make it my goal to not only learn about mental health but also different resources I can use when I'm feeling low. I like to use my knowledge on mental health to inform and educate people (who want to learn) to be more mindful how they treat others but most importantly themselves and their mind.

I am a serial single chocolate chip cookie baker (which kind of defeats the purpose but anyways,) so I have tried many recipes, and this is by far my favorite one. It actually makes two cookies.
INGREDIENTS

3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
4 Tablespoons brown sugar, packed
1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
1 egg yolk
6 Tablespoons all purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 Tablespoons chocolate chips

After this point, I just use my brain to make up the rest of the instructions.

Here is a photo of my friend’s grandfathers 427 Shelby race car and daily driver. He has competed in over 30 events with the car and drives to and from all of the events, no trailer. His passenger is his wife who suffers from Leukemia. The car is signed by Carrol Shelby, who is the founder of Shelby and is a late car builder with unparalleled notoriety for putting big power in small cars. My friend’s grandpa built the car himself in a shed, and took delivery of all authentic Shelby parts to his sons home in California. The estimated value of an unsigned 427 Shelby is 1.2 million dollars, so the fact that he is racing it instead of preserving it is legendary to me. We talked about the car for hours and it was our first time ever meeting but it was great, he also came and checked out my car afterwards.

Grateful Dead live at Campus Stadium, UC Santa Barbara

Yesterday marks the anniversary of a great show that the Grateful Dead played at UCSB in 1974. This show featured the "wall of sound", a massive wall of amps that made for the largest, loudest, and most clear sound system ever built at the time. It has some great jams and it's so cool that it was right here at UCSB. The footage is amazing but sadly there is no sound in this video.

Intelligence in Animals

I find it extremely interesting to learn that there are so many different forms of intelligence in other species than humans. As a kid I was always drawn towards animals and learning more about them. Learning about the similarities and differences is fascinating to me. Watching animals adapt to their new environments constantly as humans do, considering an exponential growth in technology and environment around us. It's a beautiful world we live in and I believe everyone deserves appreciation for their forms of intelligence. Can't wait to see more progress in this topic.

New Harry Styles Album

On May 20th, Harry Styles released his 3rd solo album and although I love most of the songs on the album this one is for sure my favorite. I have been a fan of Harry Styles since 2012 when he was in One Direction. Although I am slightly nostalgic for One Direction (especially their album Four), I am loving Harry's solo career as he is finally able to release the type of music he wants and is in a much better place emotionally as stated in various interviews.

Yesterday my friends and I drove up to Solvang and we fed ostriches at ostrich land. I really had fun and I thought it was such a cool experience and wanted to share it. I also really recommend you visit ostrich land if you haven't already.
Ostriches are such interesting animals and it's surprising how friendly they are when you see them up-close. I also found it very interesting to find out that ostriches co-exist with chipmunks and squirrels.

Roadtrip!

Just finished visiting some family in Texas and made the 20 hour drive to LA! I've done the drive a couple of times but this one was a little nicer because I took a different route. It wasn't the best time to do it though just because I left later in the evening so most of my trip was driving in the dark but it was also very nice to get to LA and have a whole day ahead of me.

I wanted to pick up a new hobby this summer to keep me busy. I automatically think people who can roller-skate are cool so I came across this video on YouTube, I am now learning to roller skate. I know it looks easy but it is not. This video is helping me through my process and hopefully in a few months I will be able to roller-skate in the streets. This video is amazing because it shows her process as well and she gives some tips for beginners like me how are just learning how to roller skate. This everyone should find something to learn and put commitment towards that.

During the trip, I told my family members I was going to get another cat. However, they didn’t think I was being serious because I have two cats at home. I have recently experimented with my fashion recently and self expression. Through this journey I have been extremely invested and interested in 70s fashion. This could be biased because I am deeply in love with classic rock, The Beatles, The Doors, Zombies, Cream, etc. so the desire to want to live through this era is very strong. One of the most interesting aspects of this decades fashion styles in the cut of the clothing and the patterns. Although the patterns differ greatly, they are work in unison and share the same styles. Very groovy, earth toned, psychadelic almost patterns. The paisley pattern was very popular at this time amongst men and womens fashion. Another interesting pattern throughout this era's fashion is wide cut clothing. This doesn't just go for pants but also for sleeves on shirts.
