1. Calandaring is used to produce high volumes of plastic sheets,

this is mainly used with PVC but also used with other modified

thermoplastics.

2. The melted polymer will be subjected to high temperatures and

pressure in and extruderand then formed into sheets using the

calandaring rolls. The temperature and speed of the rolls both

affect the properties of the sheets.

3. This process allows surface treatments of the film or sheets, such

as embossing or enhancing the physical properties of the plastic.

1. Line bending is a thermoforming process (it is a method of forming

a thermoplastic after it has been heated until it has become soft and

pliable)

2. Line bending involves heating a thermoplastic sheet material over a

strip heater until it becomes softand pliable, then bending it, usually

over a former.

3. Thermoplastics may be bent to any angle, using a jig or a former, or

if the angle is not critical, simply by bending the thermoplastic sheet

by hand and then holding it until ithas cooled.

1.This moulding process is done by placing a preheated polymer in an open,

heated mould. The mould is then sealed off, and pressure is apllied from all

directions necessary to for the shape required.

2. While the compression moulding process can be used with both thermosets

or thermoplastics, today most applications use thermoset polymers.

3. Compression moulding produces high volume, not complex plastic moulds, which

are used as components for larger products
