The important features of a balance sheet is that first you write the business name, then what it is which is "balance sheet" and then the date. From there you add the ASSETS on the left hand side and the LIABILITIES on the right hand side. This is in order of liquidity which is listed in which is easiest to convert in cash. Also you add the total ASSETS and total LIABILITIES underneath the sections. In addition, underneath the LIABILITIES is the owners equity which is subtracted from the ASSETS - LIABILITIES = OWNERS EQUITY. Including the owners name.

When you make a balance sheet you start off by putting your name/businesses name, balance sheet, and the date, in the middle. On the left side you list the assets in order of liquidity and then you total them at the bottom. On the right side you list the liabilities in order of what you payoff first and then you total that at the bottom of the list. Then, staying on the right side, you calculate the Owner's Equity. Then you take the Owner's equity and add the liabilities to get the total of your liabilities and owner's equity.
