the people who were planning it was too little and it wasn't very complete. Due to some unexpected circumstances, we had to change the language we prepared it in to adjust to the elderly

i would prepare more thoroughly with others, at least a whole group in advance and make backup plan in case of unexpected situations.

By singing them songs, they can learn songs that they did not know in the past and listen to it during their free time.

the main challenge was the origami part, i personally think that we could have done better in terms of learning what origami we have chosen and helping the seniors with it.

i would have discussed with the class about the plans so that we know what to do when were doing via without misconceptions.

i really enjoyed the bingo segment as it really brought the senior and the class together, they were having fun when playing bingo.

i learnt that it is ok to step out of my comfort zone. at first, i felt awkward and slightly nervous because i thought that they wouldn't understand what i was saying as i dont really know their mother tongue language at all. When i decided to help out the seniors during the origami part, i felt relieved that they were atleast understanding what was happening and at the same time, having fun.

i think that the bingo game went well, as i could see the elderlies showing their excitement when they have the numbers that were displayed on the board.

it made their mood lighten up a little bit and i observed that many elderlies were clapping along to the karaoke songs and laughing during the dance session.

most of us did not really translate the MC script to mandarin, so it was quite a challenge to those whom mother tongue's language isn't chinese.

i would have researched on more songs and would have personally translated the script beforehand too

being able to express our teamwork as a class, although it was not planned too thoroughly. we still managed to make the elderlies smile.

i learnt how to interact with the seniors and some of them even told me why they came to lions befrienders. i also learnt how to step out of my comfort zone when nicole told me that she needed my help with the chinese translation.

the activities that went well was the singing and dancing. many of the elderly were clapping along with us and singing together.

the people who made the slides and everything did not show us the slides and vides that they were presenting so most of us were not prepared.

i would have taught everyone and look through the slides before hand so that everyone is involved and prepared not just those who are presenting.

not everyone was working together, it was only the handful of people, but in the end everyone eventually caught on and was able to execute the plans proposed.

Yes, i would have prob voiced out my problems more and get other students to help out too.

The planning was not too bad however most of the seniors could not understand english and we need to speak in Chinese to help them understand better

I really liked the origami part as I learnt how to fold a model airplane from the uncle (not the other way around)

One new thing that I have learnt is that most of them can't really understand english and Chinese. Most of them speak broken Chinese/ english combined with their dialect. Infact at the table i was assigned to with my friends, most of the seniors there were speaking Teochew/ hokkien. I then realised i could understand what they were talking about but I could not speak the language that well.

the Bingo activity was quite well done, many seniors were happy and had a lot of fun playing Bingo.

The activities made us interact with the seniors more, we get to know them and they get to know us, even though there was some language barrier and some sudden circumstances, the class still persevered with the activities and tried to make the session an entertaining one.

The main challenge was that we didn't know what was going to be presented, we didn't go through our planning thoroughly.

If i had another chance, i would be plan and go through, practice the presentation so that there will not be any awkward pauses or moments with the seniors.

What i enjoy the most was that our class really tried to make the session entertaining, they didn't give up and that shows our class unity.

That there will uncertainties and its okay, strive higher the next time.

I feel that they felt more refreshed when some of our classmates sang the songs as some of them were singing along and supporting the people who sang

I feel that main challenge was during the origami as it was a bit hard to make it and some of the elderlies got a bit annoyed doing it.

I would have planned more better like maybe have a Chinese script in hand too as most of them needed translation and also choose a easier origami to do.

I enjoyed the bingo the most because the elderlies enjoyed that segment as they got to win a prize.

every elderly could talk to someone if they needed any help

The main challenge was trying to speak to the seniors in Chinese as they only understood Chinese and trying to coordinate teaching them origami.

I would have asked and shared more of how the VIA will take place and make sure everyone is informed so that our execution is perfect.

the main challenge in planning was that it was too messy, nobody from our class had bothered to check the slides in case there was anything else to improve on and conducting the VIA project was difficult because during the origami part. It was too messy and hard especially for the elderly, resulting in them getting frustrated. It was messy because we also did not stay back or meet to memorise what to do,what to say and how to do

I would have researched about the games the old folks could have played to make them get nostalgia when they were younger and by playing old games the folks had played it could have been more fun for them

I enjoyed the performance done by the boys because it was funny and made the old folks smile abit and probably remind them of their children or grandchildren

I have learnt that I should have worked better while conducting the VIA programme and should have voiced out my words during the planning of the VIA project
