Since we are in the middle of the exam season, I would like to introduce a tool that helps fellow teachers select texts that best match their students’ levels, adapt reading materials easily, and prepare exams based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) standards.

VocabKitchen CEFR Profiler is an online tool that helps teachers analyse the vocabulary level of any text according to (CEFR) leverls .

In addition to exam preparation, it can also be used to identify vocabulary gaps and promote differentiated instruction. Based on the instant analysis results, teachers can either select a simpler version of a text or increase the complexity of the original text when designing questions.

The analysis involves four simple steps: open the VocabKitchen CEFR Profiler, copy and paste the text. The words will automatically be highlighted according to their CEFR levels. On the right-hand side of the screen, you can see the colour-coded vocabulary, and at the top left of the page, you will find the total number of words and the percentage distribution across levels. By reviewing these results, teachers can easily determine the exact CEFR level of the text.
