I especially want to shout out Mrs. Choo, who was incredibly supportive during my struggles with Standard Math. I was very close to giving up, especially after getting multiple AL 8s before PSLE. Even though I would usually complain when she assigned multiple homework tasks, her persistence in giving me extra practice was exactly what I needed. Her encouragement and belief in my potential truly turned things around. Without her help and support, I wouldn’t be in secondary school today. I’m incredibly grateful for everything she did. Happy Teacher's Day to all the amazing teachers at Jing Shan Primary!

There is so many I want to thank but these teachers really stands out the most.

My English teachers from primary 5-6 Mrs Giri and Mrs Mokhsin who not only support me in every way but also showed my true potential in English that I didn’t even knew I had. Being there by my side all the time making sure that I pass my exams. Had low standards that I can easily reach and been proud in every accomplishment I’ve made throughout my years in JSPS. Also being super chill in class and only gets mad if don’t follow their rules as a teacher. Making sure we are able to focus by letting us have group discussions, and a little debate when we have different answers. I wanna thank them for looking out for me and never given up hope.

My one and only Math teacher, Mrs Choo who knew I had potential in the most hardest subject ever, still believing that I can pass even after I failed many times. Gave me tons of confidence and mock test to make me adjust to the hard questions. Having high hopes that I’ll pass and eventually really passed.

My science teachers from primary 5-6, Mr Rendra and Mr Swarna who had the best classes ever, telling stories and letting us having enough brake so we are able to focus, making sure we are used to answering MCQ so at least we can pass high marks. I wanna thank them for being so helpful and understanding as we were about to take our PSLE.

Lastly to my PE teacher, Mr Seah who made PE in the morning fun as he cracks jokes to lighten up the mood and made half of the class sporty as we moved to secondary school. Not only he talked about PE all the time, he also gave us advices for life and PSLE. I’m very very thankful 🤍

Samantha 6-Tenacity

Grad of (2023)

I seriously miss primary school even though secondary school is fun, I miss the teachers, staff and ex classmates even though those classmates were really chaotic but these chaotic moments are the core memories that I have of JSPS .I really want to shout out these teachers that changed my life just by teaching me in my 6 years of primary school they were they for me during my highs and lows supporting me, checking up on us whenever they felt something was wrong. Now all thanks to you, I’m able to take A math as my subject combination next year. To Mr Aaron tan, I wasn’t that interested in Science but you made the lessons more interesting, which made me pay attention more.

2020 graduate (Note: I have forgotten all my teachers names by then but I will forever remember their faces and actions)

The English teacher who actually managed to make me love English (pixie cut, no glasses I think her name is Ms Susan Koh). When I was in Da Qiao primary 1, I remember the moments where she made me head over to the English classroom where I would read storybooks with my seniors. It was so memorable because I actually had fun reading for the first time in my life. The moments where she made us take “photos” using our head, pretending to take a photo with our hands and then testing us to see if we remember. She made English really fun and I have so much appreciation for her. Thank you for making me love English so much. I am so grateful for all you’ve done to make English fun for me and the other students and you’ve basically saved me. Because of you, i managed to understand English, read English, spell english and pass my English in PSLE.I have no words to describe how much I want to thank you. (Also, I can so grateful for the whiteboards and colourful flash cards you made me and the class use!)

MR SWARNAAA! I want to thank you again for all the amazing stories you told us in P5-6. I learned word such as facade and I also learned more about you wife. Thanks to you, I found out about a book series called “The Chicken Soup” and how helpful it has been in helping me with English compo! You are a very carefree and friendly teacher who knows how to make your students laugh with glee and make English less stressful. Thank you for all you’ve done for me and my graduating class and thank you for that one moment where you brought us out of class, to the garden where we wrote our compos with such a lovely environment! Thank you for the moments where you were patient with our class despite us being quite a disobedient class(in my opinion). You are such an inspiring teacher who inspired me to do well for compo! Because of you, I’m doing amazingly in my English paper 1 and I feel so grateful that you were my teacher!

You were my math teacher in primary 3-4 at Da Qiao(Mdm Anna Foo I think is her name but I’m no longer sure) you actually made math super fun! Because of you, for the first time in my life I got super close to passing math! You are so friendly, innovative and kind! Thank you for making math so interesting to me. Thank you for the times where you gave me and the class sweets as rewards for finishing classes, submitting homework and even doing certain questions correct! You are such an amazing teacher that I looked up to as an idol when I was younger and you never gave up on your students despite them struggling for math so badly! Thank you for such hard work and effort that you have placed into your lessons like that one time you taught us about clockwise and anti clockwise in class by spinning in different directions or learning the times table through a competitive game where the class split into two and tried to answer the times table as fast as possible before time ran out! Thank you for making math so fun!

Mr Faizul who taught me in primary 5-6! Although I was such a naughty kid in primary school, always not paying attention in class and not submitting homework. I could tell you were trying to make your science lessons interesting! I still remember in P5, you brought a whole fish to school to show us and teach us about fish gills (the demonstration was very interesting and everyone in class was so excited!). Or that time when you brought a plant to school just to show us the stem and various parts of the plant! You were so creative, funny and friendly! That one time I cried in school because of some people saying mean things about me was so memorable because of that one moment where you noticed me crying, came up to me, comforted me and stayed with me until I calmed down despite me being a really disobedient student made me realise how caring of a teacher you are towards your students! That time when you made the class laugh, appearing to class with your pants drenched in water and you defensively saying that you didn’t pee your pants was a very humorous moment for me! Your so inspiring to me and you help me realise that you actually cared about your students! Thank you for being my teacher.

Mdm Lau Sok Ling Melissa (I saw your name in the excellence in mathematics teaching award and want to congratulate you. You deserve it!) your such a fair teacher! Scary but you know how to make your students respect you! Your undying passion and love for math shines through whenever you’re teaching my class. As your student in primary 3/4 and 5/6, you were an incredibly skilled teacher who was so passionate about math that it was very inspiring to see your passion whenever there were math lessons. When I was in Da Qiao, you had a son who was in the class that I was in and that you taught. Despite that, you were an extremely fair teacher, putting aside your biases and treating your child as fairly as everyone else! That really showed how great of a teacher you are and I was so happy and proud to have such an incredible teacher by my side! Thank you for being my math teacher!

Ms Lin (I think that’s her name but she has a mole above her lip and pale skin with long jet black hair) you taught me math in P5-6 and I am so grateful for your efforts! The fact that you put in so much effort for the weaker students (like me) by making them share the teachers table with you and helping them with whichever math questions they didn’t know. You are so kind hearted, gentle and so friendly to your students (even though I was pretty naughty back then). I still remember the birthday cards you wrote for everyone and how I learned a new word from your birthday card that I will always remember. When you said my name was similar to the word Jovial, I felt so touched and happy with your words. You have a very kind and warm soul and I am so thankful for that. You are a very inspiring, intelligent and hardworking teacher who tries to pay attention to all your students even if they may be challenging to handle. Thank you for your dedication to my graduating class!

Lastly, I want to thank all the staff and teachers for being with me in my primary school life! I was a really naughty kid back then, troubling Mr Ho(e?) by going to the classrooms in the morning when we were not supposed to and playing pranks on the staff that worked there and playing pranks on the students( in Da Qiao)pretending there were ghosts and what not in the toilet to scare them. Or the times where I hid in the library and played hide and seek around the school premises with my friends, running around like monkeys and getting scolded by the teachers that saw us 😅. Thank you for being able to actually tolerate my behaviour in school and sorry for troubling you so much with how I behaved! Thank you for teaching, inspiring and encouraging students from future batches to do well in school. I thank all the teachers and staff wholeheartedly!

Firstly, I'd like to thank all the teachers who taught me. Mdm Han, Mr Swarna, Mr O'riz, Mrs Choo, Mdm Foo, Mdm Safidah, Mrs Mokhsin, Mrs Nayar, Mdm Chan Yan Sze and Ms Ning. You all have made a significant change in my life no matter what aspect it was being studies, mental health or just being a form teacher in general.

Mdm Han, I want to say that the two years you taught me was so special and really a great stepping stone for me to learn more about the subjects. No matter how many nagging sessions you gave us, you continued to teach with perseverance. I really admire that.

Mrs Mokshin, I really admire your work etiquette. You always go out of your way to make yourself presentable, ready to teach children and make a point in learning. I was very lucky to have experienced your ways of making us learn and different methods to apply to our work as I still do some of them unconsciously. You gave me and some others an extra boost for our English to be able to apply for Express English in secondary school. Because of you as well, I got to experience advanced work and be able to use that to boost my academics(that didn't rlly make sense sorry). Studies aside, the amount of discipline you taught us also stuck with me and basically basic respect for myself and to other people. I know it is your job and all to ensure discipline is present, somehow your stern voice really makes students willing to listen to you. I admire your etiquette.

Mrs Nayar, I think that it was you who really made me the English person I am today, alongside Mrs Mokhsin. Before you taught me I really could not care less about English as I just thought we just speak it everyday. But I found out I was incorrect. Your discipline and dedication towards teaching the subject and ensuring we understand the material made me really admire you and want to be like you. It was you who really got me into English and making sure it is my best subject. And it is! I'm doing well in Express English currently, maintaining a constant score but there's always room for improvement somewhere. I admire your contribution.

Mrs Choo, words cannot express how grateful I am to have been a student under your wing, being my form teacher and math teacher for two years. Whenever it came to serious matters, you made sure your voice was heard to everyone and instilled awareness to the situation to everyone. Being a wise woman, your words(and nagging) got to us and you made our attitudes as great as they are now. Math may not be one of my stronger subjects, but having been able to even understand what I was learning because of you was a blessing. I'm sure that if I was a student of a different teacher, I wouldn't be daring enough to try and do math questions. It's just one step at a time and I will be able to get it soon enough, with your wisdom and guidance alongside me. I will forever be grateful for your contributions to my studies and mind power. I admire everything.

-Sanuwa<3 (Graduate of 2022, 6 Gratitude)
