Nebraska's new state slogan is offering a departure from what's expected, presenting readers with a brutally honest and deadpan description which reads, "Honestly, it's not for everyone."

This new slogan replaces the previous "Nebraska Nice" and aims to address the state's consistently low tourism rankings. The slogan, which was announced at the Nebraska City conference, is accompanied by a series of clever print ads which combat negative perceptions of the state. One of the ads features a gorgeous and lush scene while reading “Famous for our flat, boring landscape.” Another features a group of friends enjoying a water-based excursion with the caption “Lucky for you, there’s nothing to do here.”

New generations have a different sense of humor and what they want to see in ad campaigns, for example, Wendy's aggressive Twitter page attracts a younger generation.
This humor isn't for everybody, other generations and markets may not understand it and decide that it really is too boring for them to visit. The marketing is just too blunt.

The Recycled Island Foundation gathered debris from Rotterdam's Maas River and port to create a floating park for the public to visit. The main concept of the new site is to highlight the importance of recycling plastic. The floating park sits at 140 square meters and is comprised of hexagon blocks made completely from recycled plastic waste. This project is beneficial for the river's ecosystem, as it serves as a habitat for both micro and macrofauna such as snails, fish, beetles and flatworms.

In order to gather all the waste from Maas River, the Recycled Island Foundation prototyped three passive litter traps that all went through testing and trials for a year and a half. The litter traps catch plastic debris using the streamline of the river. The new park has been developed in partnership with the Rotterdam Municipality and has also implemented floating green structures to initiate thoughts for ecology in the city's harbor. It gives a place for vegetation to grow, which allows organisms to find food and shelter.

Guess what I am doing next summer? I am going to take a road trip to one of the best/worst amusement parks (no it is not Jungle Cat World, although it is home to the liger). I’m going to Flintstones Bedrock City in Custer, South Dakota.

This amusement park has been kicking for 45 years, and I think it is starting to show. Granted, Custer, South Dakota is not a number one tourist attraction, but maybe with a little love and attention the Flintstones Bedrock City could reclaim some of its former glory. Check out the gallery to see some images of this small town tourist attraction.
