  • How we express ourselves by using our own language is one aspect of communication style. Still, the way people communicate differs greatly between and even within, cultures. Thus, effective communication can be challenging when individuals do not speak the same language and are not aware of some terms or phrases with a different cultural context or that cannot be translated straight into other languages. The following are some Filipino expressions that can be considered obscure for persons from a different culture for they may lose their charm when translated into a foreign tongue.
