The room is set up in a block desk format. There are 2 sets of ten desks. The students have no choice but to stay in the desks. Her room being so small, it makes it difficult to navigate the room. The students often end up standing on top of each other while trying to retrieve materials out of their storage cubbies. The room is inviting. She always has it bright and has plenty of color with the posters she has on the wall. In the area of being safe and orderly, the students do have a fairly safe space to be in. The floor is open near the front of the room so they have an open area to line up. There is an emergency exit door in the back of the classroom that is easily accessible if needed. There is a fire extinguisher near the sink where it can be accessed as well. The emergency plans are on the back of the door and there is a roster we can grab on the way out the door as we head out for whatever emergency there may be.

My teacher is very engaged when delivering the lecture. When she would pose a question, she would give the students needed time to respond. The teacher allows students to discuss responses and to ask questions during the lecture. When students are completing desk work the teacher consistently monitors their progress by walking around the room and stopping when necessary to answer questions and clarify information. The teacher’s ability to consistently monitor student progress allows for assessment of student progress. The teacher gives the students a lot of positive feedback. When a student provides an incorrect response, the teacher takes note of effort and provides formative feedback to allow them to grow and learn. After the students have completed their quiz, the teacher goes over the answers and allows the students to correct their questions on the quiz.

Students are encouraged to ask questions and give comments throughout instruction. Students appear to be most actively engaged during an activity that requires q and a. The students were able to answer the questions that were going to be on their test before the test began. They were engaged because they were all able to answer together. They did not use manipulative.
