         <description><![CDATA[<div>Andrew Jackson was the president of the U.S from 1829 - 1837, he oversaw most of the nations expansion. His most prominent role in Westward Expansion was his continuous struggled to&nbsp; make the Indians got East of the Mississippi so that the American settlers could have more land.&nbsp;<br><br>Jackson was born on&nbsp; March 15, 1767, to Andrew and Elizabeth Hutchinson Jackson, Scots-Irish colonists who emigrated from Ireland in 1765. His exact birth place is unknown but it is presumed to be at one of his uncle's houses in the remote Waxhaws region that straddles North Carolina and South Carolina .&nbsp;<br><br>Fun Fact: Andrew Jackson was the first president who grew up in poverty before becoming a president.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

He established the principle that states may not disregard federal law, he also signed the Indian Removal Act of 1830, which led to the Trail of Tears. He was the first U.S. president to come from the area west of the Appalachians and the first to gain office by a direct appeal to the mass of voters.</div>]]></description>

He is known as the "people's president," He destroyed the Second Bank of the United States, founded the Democratic Party, supported individual liberty, and instituted policies that resulted in the forced migration of Native Americans.<br><br>His main significance was when he signed the Indian Removal Act as it gave the Americans more land the settle on but it didn't really meet America's laws of equality as the Natives and Indians were forced out of their home most of the time.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
