The proportion of women in leadership positions is low. Female workforce participation rates have increased, and they are more educated, but they still make up a very small percentage of key decision-making roles. According to the WGEA, women hold only 38.4% of all management positions.
Companies must reconsider their approach to increasing gender diversity at senior executive levels. The importance of career planning with a focus on women's advancement and retention cannot be overstated. Breaking down traditional workplace structures and allowing for flexibility are also important for advancing women.

In today's aging population, age discrimination has become a significant problem. Australia has promulgated relevant laws to prohibit age discrimination. There’s a growing ageing of population which has become an issue in workforce planning, organisational HR policies and quality life of employees. Mature employees are seen to be a major consequence, where elder care policies and flexible work policies are expected from the workplace. It’s hard for the employees themselves as they have to think beyond their retirement age.
There has also been a issue about age discrimination going on, individuals are treated unfairly. Increasing age can also lead to an unbalanced work environment that can lead to problems.

Ladies at the more elevated levels of associations are by all account not the only imbalance looked by ladies in the work environment. There is an orientation pay hole meaning the contrast among people's compensation. The least hole being 6.8% and the most elevated is at 26.1%. The explanation being for pay disparity to broaden are believed to be work and industry isolation, absence of pay straightforwardness particularly comparable to rewards and exclusively arranged pay rates and the most obviously terrible being separation. This issue is likewise explicitly connected with work assessment frameworks regularly bringing about ladies' positions being underestimated and paid not exactly tantamount male positions. The contrasting compensation information for ladies and men distinguishes holes and permits the causes to be explored.

Over the past 30 years the numbers of male participants have declined mostly in Australia and OECD Countries. On the other hand, the numbers of female participants accelerated. The government strategy in increasing the female workforce participation, will affect the incline on GDP. Furthermore, from the rise in female participants, it changes the way people used to think about how female is only allowed as a full-time housewife and male as the full-time employment. In order to increase the female workforce, the government needs to make more flexible work policy that offers the ability for women to combine work, motherhood and caring responsibilities, such as working hours, job expectations, and work organizations.

Group 2 Maternity, paternity and parental leave in Australia

According to the Australia's National Employment Standards, employed parents are entitled to 52 unpaid leave with job security and are also allowed to extend for up to 12 months of unpaid leave if other employed parents didn't use their given entitlement. Within these few years, women has been achieving greater qualifications and pursue strong-powered careers, leaving men with their kids as caretaker or "stay at home dads" more often. The maternity leave allows employed female workers to spend at work and spend time with their family. Even when women were taking their leave, some companies find them as a liability and decided to fire them. This is where the HRM goes into practice. According to Ms Shugg, she said "maternity leave would encourage men and women to have a healthy and stable relationship with their family." She enforced that 14-18 weeks was the right kind of range for mining companies to offer new parents, both male and female.

Maternity and paternity leave and parental leave are important policies at the national and organizational level. These leave protect the rights of women and their families. Maternity leave allows women to have enough when they are pregnant or when a baby is born. time to take care of your baby and restore your body. In some countries, maternity leave will become longer. Paternity leave is also a crucial part, because fathers also play an important role in caring for and growing up with children, but currently in Australia and Southeast Asia, the paternity system has not been given enough attention, only in Europe and Nordic countries , male paternity leave is more common. Because from their experience it was concluded that generous salaries and a non-transferable system worked best with paternal paternity. And in 2013, the Australian government also launched a paid paternity leave scheme for fathers and partners, and the Southeast Asian countries at the other end are also gradually changing,For example, the Vietnamese government has implemented two weeks of paternity leave since 2016. Male civil servants in Indonesia can also get four weeks of paid paternity leave. The Philippines is also trying to extend maternity leave. In Australia, the proportion of stay-at-home dads has only increased by 1% over the past 30 years, up from 5% before. Regarding these holidays, governments and organizations need a more favorable policy and social environment to make greater changes. Australian employees enjoy unpaid maternity leave, but at the beginning of the 21st century, paid maternity leave was an important policy missing in Australia, while European countries had established paid maternity leave as early as the 20th century, and Australia only began to legislate in 2010. Paid maternity leave, under which the Government provides mothers with 18 weeks' wages and covers mothers in many occupations. This helps to establish a patriarchal relationship with the aim of helping the father or partner get more time to care for the newborn. Although public policy encourages fathers and partners to take maternity leave together, organizations may organize men to take maternity leave because they feel it is not necessary, and the organization needs people to keep it going, and the organization's opinion will influence when policy is made .
