So, I went to my Grandma's house today for a visit. I hadn't gone to see her in almost a month and so, I was long overdue. The strangest thing happened there: the cat meowed at me. I know, from my extensive research, that cats meow at humans in retaliation, or to get our attention. And there I was, looking down at this cat and wondering if risking my allergies to pet it was a good idea. Despite Mum's forceful advice against it, I went ahead and scratched it gently behind its ear. A few minutes later, when I pulled away, it meowed at me again. And I scratched it and pet it and stroked it fondly. And when I pulled away, it meowed again. This went on for quite a while until I realised that this cat was probably half-dog or something. It was the most un-cat-like-cat that I have ever met. I mean, what cat continuously meows to get your attention? None, as far as my experience in the matter went. None, that is, until today. I met the weirdest cat and I quite liked it, considering I don't like house cats. House cats are the worst predators on the planet, according to one study, because house cats kill for pleasure, unlike big cats that kill for food. Speaking of big cats, there's a state-wide tiger census happening sometime in May and I was thinking of volunteering. It might be fun. It might be my last chance at hiking through the forests before the end of the world.

Nowadays, I'm more than convinced that the end of the world is happening. It's just a matter of when, and not if. The world will end, and humanity will perish. The question is: how much of our planet will we be taking down with us? 80%? 90? More than that? That scares me. I worry about my planet and the creatures that can't speak for themselves. When will people understand that our planet's the only piece of land we've got?! How long until humanity unites to be better citizens of our world, instead of fighting wars and ruining our only hope? Will it ever happen? That's the question that needs to be answered.

I was reading up on Japanese folklore last night and found the all-too-familiar ones that I've been introduced to, thanks to my extensive interest in manga and anime. One, however, I found intriguing, new and refreshing. Satori, the mountain ape yokai, that may attack travellers with sudden revelations. It sounds to me like Satori is the God of enlightenment, rather than the demon of ignorance and somehow, this kanji spoke to me on a spiritual level.
Considering the fact that I'm not a spiritual person, or even a believer of things Supernatural, this revelation was a treat to my mundane, empty life and somehow, the kanji for Satori is now my new favourite aesthetic.
Divinity, spirituality, and belief are such alien feelings to me. How does one believe in anything that they can't see? How does one begin to explain the origins of the universe? Why is it so important that we do something good for the simple reason that it's expected of us by a higher being? Somehow, I don't understand this. I don't understand the concept of God, nor the need for it. Why can't we be the best that we can be for our own selves instead of others? Why can't we be kind and gentle, warm and faithful, loving, and caring, just because we can? What is the need to show to someone how we feel and what we do? It's all strange and unreal to me. I would rather people be kind because they can. I know I'm incapable of kindness, but I've seen many who are. I am a sociopath and that's ok with me. At least I'm not out there killing people, or other life forms. I just shut the world out and look at it through windows. Real life windows and internet-ones. That's ok. It just seems like people are all doing things for the wrong reasons. I can never understand human nature. I regret to admit that I don't want to understand it.

There are times in my life, many, many times, that all I wish is to be left alone. Being by myself is the closest thing I have to spirituality because it's only when I'm alone that I can truly be who I really am. Some days, however, this alone-ness isn't enough. Some days, I just want a comforting hand on my shoulder, or a warm hug without asking for it. Those days have never come true. I'm not sure what that makes me. After all, I am a self-proclaimed psychopath who wishes for all of humankind to perish so that the Earth can live. What does this make me? I have not one single clue.

A rollercoaster of a movie

I watched this movie because of it's many references in "Supernatural" and how most people understood those references but me. What a big mistake. This movie was a rollercoaster of emotions for me, from strangely empathetic to frustration to anger to laughter.

This movie was an absolute pain to watch, mostly because of the various emotions it incited in me, and my awareness of being able to feel these emotions. How can one feel so many things while watching a movie? No wonder people always say good things about this movie. I'd almost given up before Clarence showed up and for good reason.

However, I am troubled by the 'Wish granted: you were never born' part of it. It was the climax of the movie, granted, but I think, had I been the one who was shown a world where I didn't exist, I'd probably just leave town and relish in the fact that no one in the entire freaking world knew who I was. I'd be over the top, I'd be ecstatic and I'd probably move far away and live out the rest of my life in peace. This is a sad thing to admit, considering what the movie actually teaches us. It's not, 'you're important' or 'you do make a difference in the world', it's much simpler than that. It's simply 'don't gloat your superiority, no matter what the circumstance.'

Had Uncle Billy learnt this lesson, he'd never have lost those $8000 and George Bailey would never have found out how many people actually cared about his presence. Sure, all's well that ends well, but why go through all that trouble? Just to gloat to Potter, who was an arse of a man and never learnt a thing in his long, miserable life? What a complete idiot you are, Uncle Billy! And the worst part is, he doesn't even remember it! So, it's not like he's learnt his lesson! He's probably going to do it again and cost George Bailey more money! The moron!

It's been almost two months since the iconic Sherlock on BBC made waves throughout the world by the release of the latest season, which many speculate to be the Series' last, even though Steven Moffat has repeatedly confirmed that it is not the last season that he has planned for the Baker Street Boys.

I remembered something important while trying, and failing, to fall asleep, from the first episode of Season 4.
John: Give the people what they want
Sherlock: Don't do that! People are stupid!
... and so on. This made me think: of course, it isn't just Sherlock talking, it's Moffat. And when the whole world, or 75% of the world is rooting for a slash story between the Baker Street Boys, Moffat pours a jug of cold Arctic water on it and douses all the little sparks and dreams.

I suppose the only reason I thought to write this is because I'm tired as hell but can't fall asleep, and I'm too lazy to do some actual writing and progress my short story anthology that's been in the works since last February. One of these days, I'll actually finish it, and that will make me more proud and happy than I can care to share. So, I suppose this will allow me to think of my future prospects and smile at them from a distance. Who knows what I'll be doing when I actually get there?! I might be too wasted to even notice, or care. That would be a pity. Truly.

I think that the best part about being me is that I have immense appreciation of certain types of art. I may not be an expert on van Gogh or know the difference between Manet and Monet, or even be able to appreciate the poetry in art that most art enthusiasts talk about. I am however, very interested in the art that speaks to me, on a personal level. For example, even if I wasn't an expert on all things van Gogh, I do appreciate the most famous of his paintings, such as the Starry night, which seems to speak to me on a deep and emotional level. To me, the starry night will always be the nights that I look up at the night sky with tears in my eyes. So, even though I may not appreciate the actual brush strokes or the colour usage, I understand the feelings it incites in me.
I suppose my elaborate admission on art is with reference to the second item on my Christmas list, this beautiful steelbook of Sherlock Season 4, which is only available in the UK. What a disaster! I need to make some friends in the UK who'll ship these things to me. This and the Doctor Who series 1 steelbook, and a whole load of other things. If only...

"Your name" is Shinkai Makoto-sensei's latest masterpiece of a movie that released in 2016. And what a movie experience that was!!!
I'm completely obsessed with this whole movie experience! For one, the stories that Shinkai seems to focus on are of star-crossed lovers in the most basest sense. Then, there's the turmoil, angst, heartache - name it, and it's there. So is it true in this movie. But, it was absolutely a delight to watch! And I am so happy that I didn't guess the plot points. I love it when that happens! I love that there are people out there that are still unpredictable and can surprise me. That's a delight. Honest.
Zen zen zense is the theme song of this movie and I just fell in love with the sounds and the words that this amazing song conveys.
It's an absolute delight to watch and I am so glad I watched this movie. It lifted my slightly low spirits, and I'm eternally grateful to Shinkai-sensei for this movie experience. I am definitely recommending this movie to my anime-geek mates, because in the time of "moe" and "short skirts", the true meaning of anime is lost without the guidance of such people as Shinkai Makoto-sensei.

There are few things in the world that I am absolutely certain about. The first is that no matter what happens in this world, ever, InuYasha is the best anime/manga to have come into existence.
The second is that the Ninth Doctor is the most hilarious, the most kind, and the most under-appreciated of all the rebooted Doctors. When I watched Doctor Who for the first time, I started at the beginning of the rebooted series, unlike most newcomers, and of course, I fell in love with Nine, big ears and all. Nine was my Doctor. He was my hero, my saviour, and the one who will always be the most fantastic doctor, in my humble opinion. In fact, I was mildly upset when Ten came along, a little bit like Rose, but then, Ten is so frickin' lovable, it was inevitable. Despite that, I maintain that Nine is my favourite, without a doubt.
Having rambled on about this, of course, I was a tad bit disappointed when this item on my Christmas list is being marketed as "The Tenth Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote" by The Wand Company. I will always associate this Sonic with Nine, and here it is, in all its glory, ready to join more BBC merch on my Christmas List.
I think I'm a little bit in love, and a little bit orgasmic at the sight of this beauty. Oh, Christmas can't come too soon!!

Paper cranes for good luck!

I spent the majority of 2013 folding paper cranes and I think that was part of the reason for my success during that year(KNOCK ON WOOD!)
So now that I'm embarking upon newer adventures, I've decided to resume this habit. My plan is to fold a 1000 paper cranes, no matter what the cost, and I have a feeling that I will do it this time.
These five cranes represent the groups of seven that I've folded over the last 24 hours, which brings the grand total to 35 paper cranes.
Somehow, I feel like the idea behind folding a 1000 paper cranes is just an analogy for the hard work to be put in into an individual topic in order to succeed. Folding a 1000 paper cranes sounds easy, but it's not. Especially when one doesn't have origami folding paper. Regular paper is so much harder to fold into a crane. I can only admit to having developed a technique in order for this to fruition. I can only hope my patience lasts this time around. A thousand paper cranes no matter what seems liks a good plan. So, no matter what, I'm folding a thousand, even if it takes me years to do so. Yep. There you have it: my mid-month, mid-year-ish resolution for 2017. I can only hope for the best. Knock on wood!!

Since I heard of it's existence in 2011, I have been pining after the PlayStation Vita, which was then called the Next Generation Portable, or NGP. Even though it has been five years since its release, I had yet to acquire one for myself, that is, until yesterday. I am now the proud owner of an Aqua Blue PS Vita that I bought on my recent trip to Singapore. Though it's only been a day, I feel like I've always owned one, considering how much I craved it since 2012. It feels like, at long last, the wheels of my life are slowly chugging forward. Here's one item on every one of my Christmas lists since 2012 ticked off!

It's been three days since my brand new PS vita and I must say, they have been memorable. I've used the device to check my mail, tweet, and watch telly on the small screen, though I'm not sure if rewatching Shinkai Makoto's "Your name" really counts. Here it is, in all it's glory, with the entire family of devices that I call my own.

I know there's still a while until Christmas Day, per se, but, since it is the Season, I figured an update was due! Here's my book shelf stacked with the spoils of this year's books and games acquired in the latter half of 2017. And with this, I'll say good-bye, and adios to 2017!!
