The product caught my attention in the first place because of the colour. I am a person that love black and white, so I am curious what type of board game can be played in black and white. Furthermore, it is checked pattern which is cool in my opinion.

3.Why is it worth the analysis?

The chess is worth the analysis because it is one of the oldest board game. Most countries claimed to have invented chess but most believed it is India in 6th century AD. So to be able to survive for so many years there must be certain elements that contribute to chess survival

Details

1. Like how some details can make people know what kind of product it is. The signature design of chess is it's checkered design. The checkered design is always alternated between dark and light colours to show the two different side. Same goes to the chess pieces colours. People can recognise right away it belongs to a chess set.
2. The chess pieces, the chess pieces each has their own role and their own design. Each chess pieces design has the character of their role in the game. For example the prawn, has a simple design or the knight is a house design. Even the queen and king has their cross design on top. The design give personality to each chess pieces. It also allow the player to easily identify the chess pieces. If the chess pieces design are all the same but just labelled differently. The players are going to have a harder time to identify the chess pieces.
3. The different colour design show the level of gameplay. The first chess set start off with dark and light brown wood and then for modern times it changes into classic black and white. However, the black and white chess set doesn't show the professionalism of the game. High level gameplay are still being played using the old chess set like the one shown in the picture above.

Things that can be improved

1. Times are changing, so things need to change. Although not all change is good, but sometimes it is needed. In this case the design of the chess board could be more detailed or with different kind of design. Instead of just plain checkered box, maybe some character or flowers. Nowadays, board games are being played lesser and lesser. So to cater to the new generation, it needs to attract their attention. Usual design is too plain for them and seem boring and lame.
2. Same goes to the chess piece design. For example, sometime the pieces can be missing. Hence, for impromptu replacement. I will take a random small toy at hand and use it. However the rules still stay the same. Just the design has changed. So why not do something like this to attract a wider range of people.
