In the 1910s one of the most prominent jobs for immigrants like the Irish and Germans was alcohol related items, like beer and wine. To combat this many white supremacists wanted the ban of beer in an attempt to keep control over minority groups. We can see this in The Great Gatsby when Tom Buchanan talks about how society was turning for the worst and how “the white race will be-will be utterly submerged”. In an attempted to stop tis white Supremacist banned alcohol to stop immigrants from progressing in society.
