This shows what kind of things she values and what makes her nervous or worried. We can see into the personality of a person and their characteristics by looking at these kind of behaviors.

Early on in the book we see angelina tinder being taken away from her home by the whistleblowers, who have determined her to be flawed. As she is taken away we watch her husband bob tinder and her children plead and cry for the whistle blowers to let her go(pg 12.). The scene really makes you feel The chracters pain and makes it seem as if they are real, breathing human beings.

After Angelina tinder is taken from her home Celestine and her boyfriend meet up on the top of that hill to give gifts and they have a very romantic moment (pg 25-30) This is showing how Celestine has all kinds of emotions and she getting into the feelings of love. It is proving there is character being added to her soul and making her who she is. Her new love and feelings might cause problems or influence her to do things that they call "flawed".

Our main character Celestine has been living a normal life with an amazing relationship, all is well. Then, she helps an old man the is flawed because he is choking as she feels bad for him (pg 43-50). Her whole life turns upside down and she is taken away and put into a prison cell and is being put on trial for being flawed. These events have really set my brain for a whirl and has made me think how could this possibly get any worse and what could happen next. Her actions have made the story go from meh to wow this is intense. Her actions in this previous section might lead the world to good and a better place because she stood up to the law.

Trace the changes of the central character. How has it impacted you?

Celestine begins to question thepart of society she has always accepted and taken part in. From reflecting on the Tinder and Child cases(pg 34-36) and how the Flawed are treated(pg 38-43) to the episode she causes(pg 44-49), she slowly develops different ways of thinking about her country's society. It's fascinating watching such a huge internal change happen to someone and how they react to it. I predict that for a while she will continue this battle in her head of what is right or wrong that will affect her actions the rest of the story.

In the beginning of the book we see how "perfect" Celestines life is. However as she begins to question society's treatment of the flawed we get to see the more empathetic side of her. We see how she risks her "perfect" life in order the help the flawed man on the bus.(pg 43-49). Its crazy to see how much Celestine has changed from when we were first introduced to her in the beginning of the book to were we are now. I predict that in the next coming chapters we will be able to see more of celestines empathetic side and maybe some internal conflict that Celestine will face, while on trial for being flawed.

What are things you've learned in your reading that still have you thinking?

The corruption of the guild keeps me thinking. Crevan's supposed values don't match his actions. He tells Celestine to lie and says that it's not lying(pg 58-60). When Celestine doesn't do what he wants her to do in the court room, he lashes out and throws away the relationship that they had(pg 108-110). Judge Sanchez is apparently trying to sabotage Crevan(pg 109). All of this makes me wonder how corrupt our government is and how it affects us. I think we will eventually see the downfall of Crevan in the book.

Additional examples in response to comment: His influence over many things based on family and investments such as newspapers and the soccer team and how those affect his court decisions. He uses fear on less powerful staff/people to get what he wants like not being made to look stupid. Pia, the guards, and Mr. North are examples of those people.

something that ive learned from the book that still has me thinking is how Judge Crevan can get away with using the court system in his favor. For example we learn that judge Craven accused Dr. Blake of being flawed because she wasn't able to catch the cancer that Crevan wife had before she died."I believe he was planning the Dr. Blake case for sometime . The outcome gave him confidence to proceed with Angelina and Jimmy Child. He got away with them. But now people are questioning his decisions."(pg 242). It pretty obvious that Crevan has been using the courts for his own good and i wonder how this will backfire on him later in the book.

Something that has kept me thinking is the fact of how corrupt the whole society is. When Celestine went to try to find her old guards at the castle she witnessed people walking down the carpet where she once was. She asked a lady why they were punished and she said they took their son out of the hospital to get him better treatment. It states, "Poor fella could have died. They took him to Spain. To get another treatment" (pg 182). They did something that in our world would be completely okay if supported correctly but in this society that is flaw even though they're just trying to save their little boy. I believe that once Celestine finds a way to expose the Castle and Crevan for their illegal actions and use of lies in her case the whole society will come crumbling down into chaos.

Throughout this whole story I have been always stuck and on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next. Her use of suspense really makes you want to know what is on that next page. When Logan and all his friends capture Celestine do so many dirty things to her (Pages 209-225), I really was on the edge of my seat and felt so bad for her while reading. Her use of fear and the evilness of the kids to Celestine makes you really anxious and you want to help her and want to know what happens next in the story. The Author also makes me wonder what will happen next for Celestine because she left us off on a cliffhanger so we want to read her next book. Maybe she will find Carrick after running away for several weeks an plan with him to take down the Guild.

What does the author make you wonder about?

I wonder what the author's inspiration for the book and her relationship to it is. She appears to have felt very strongly about writing this novel compared to her selection of others. In the acknowledgements section she spoke about how she was really hooked on the concept of Flawed and the extremely different writing experience when compared to her other books. She says, "I wrote this story with anger, with love, with passion; every word and sentiment came from the heart"(pg 324). She's says, "For you, Dad" (two pages before pg 1) and I wonder if her dad has anything to do with the content or inspiration for the book. She places heavy emphasis on flawedness especially when she writes, "FLAWED: faulty, defective, imperfect, blemished, damaged, distorted, unsound, weak, deficient, incomplete, invalid; (of a person) having a weakness in character"(one page before pg 1) and it makes me wonder if she is hooked on the concept or is using it more as a metaphor for the struggles real society has faced. On page one, she writes, "I am a girl of definitions, of logic, of black and white. Remember this." These traits are very important to the plot as well as the character and I wonder if Ahern wrote the main character like that just for the plot of if she was writing from her life and experiences.Thinking about these things will probably have an effect on my writing.

Im very interested at her thought process behind this book, especially since it seems so different from the other books she has published.
