CDC free materials on ADHD

This website offers free materials for families. It is very easy to navigate. It gives PDFs with informations. The first one is on symptoms and behaviors. It also discusses the importance of behavioral therapy the child. Behavioral therapists can teach parents ways to support their child. It is most affective when it comes from the parents so it is important for parents to learn these skills. There are several good PDFs on behavioral therapy, they discuss what is going to happen during these sessions, how long they go, and what a good therapist should do. While this website mostly focuses on young children with ADHD it does have some resources for older children as well.

CHADD has a lot of information and may look overwhelming at first. However It has a lot of resources things that can help families learn about and help children with ADHD. Make sure that as a parent or caregiver you go to the top and underneath "understanding ADHD" you'll see the parent and caregiver section. That is where you'll get the most information. On the left of the website are links you can click on that will direct you to more specific things in their website. It gives you different age groups and things you can do for your child at those ages, it gives diagnoses and treatment overviews as well for all ages. You can explore all categories at the top as well. There is advocacy, more educational resources of different formats, and ways to get involved and support the website and people with ADHD.

This website again offers a lot of information that can be stressful and difficult to look through. However their sections are often short and easy to read through. If you scroll down it says ADHD Basics, I think that is a good place to start. It gives symptoms and what to look out for pre diagnosis. It then gives treatments, such as therapy, or medication. It also goes into different mental disorders that can come from ADHD that parents might want to keep an eye out for, such as depression and anxiety. I think that is really important for parents to read because those are common to find in kids with ADHD. It also gives different age groups that you can read on. And information on will your kid outgrow ADHD, or is it caused by video games. Which might not seem as important but are interesting to read up on seeing as it discusses how ADHD symptoms and behaviors in your child can change over time, but they still have ADHD.

This website is a lot easier to navigate, and gives tips on things to do at home to help your child. If you go under the "Family Resources" tab it gives you different formats of information, like videos, PDFs, and blogs. These formats give information on different tips to organize your child and set them up for success. Tips on a reward system and how it can be done effectively. And the suggestion of using a daily report card to keep your child on task. This resource is less medically based and more family based. Its a good resources to use when your have your child's diagnosis and are trying to find ways to motivate and keep your kid on task.
