Connection: I chose the song Fight Song to connect to the passage that was about how he rebelled and fought with his Aunt Addie. The reason for choosing this song is because this is the first time he fought back against his family. The song is about how they start to fight and how they finally speak out and that connects to this passage in Black Boy because this is the first time Richard has stood up for himself because he was punished for something he didn’t do. He is finally starting to stand up for himself and that is what the song is about, fighting and standing up for yourself.
