"Bring on your forces of nature"

This is an example of symbolism. This shows that he is asking for a challenge and nature is usually thought to be powerful and beautiful.

2. "Bring on the storm that's raging"

This is also an example of symbolism. This is symbolising a huge force that he is asking for. This also means he is asking to bring it on as a challenge.

3. "There's a fire inside you"

This line is a an example of symbolism. This mean that you have a talent or gift within you and they are using a the word 'fire' as it represents something bright and powerful.

"Come on, carry your flame"

This line symbolises to use your gifts and talents to help you get through tough times. That is to make the night memorable and influence everyone around you

6."Bring on your plagues and pharaohs".

This line is also an example of symbolism. This symbolises to make a legacy and also to bring on big forces as a challenge.

7."Torches x4"

This is an example of repetition. The repetition is used here because it adds to the feel of the song and lead to the chorus again. It is also what all the messages in the song revolve around (fire, flames).

8."Leave it in the darkness"

This line in the chorus is also symbolism.
Easy come, easy go, that's just how you live, oh
Take, take, take it all, but you never give
Should have known you was trouble from the first kiss
Had your eyes wide open
Why were they open? (Ooh)
Gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash
You tossed it in the trash, you did
To give me all your love is all I ever ask
'Cause what you don't understand is
I'd catch a grenade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Throw my hand on a blade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I'd jump in front of a train for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
You know I'd do anything for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Oh, oh, I would go through all this pain
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes, I would die for ya, baby
But you won't do the same
No, no, no, no
Black, black, black and blue
Beat me 'til I'm numb
Tell the devil I said "Hey" when you get back to where you're from
Mad woman, bad woman
That's just what you are
Yeah, you'll smile in my face then rip the brakes out my car
Gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash
You tossed it in the trash, yes you did
To give me all your love is all I ever ask
'Cause what you don't understand is
I'd catch a grenade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Throw my hand on a blade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I'd jump in front of a train for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
You know I'd do anything for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Oh oh, I would go through all this pain
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes, I would die for ya, baby
But you won't do the same
If my body was on fire
Ooh, you'd watch me burn down in flames
You said you loved me, you're a liar
'Cause you never, ever, ever did, baby
But darling, I'd still catch a grenade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Throw my hand on a blade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I'd jump in front of a train for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
You know I'd do anything for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Oh oh, I would go through all this pain
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes, I would die for ya, baby
But you won't do the same
No, you won't do the same
You wouldn't do the same
Ooh, you'd never do the same
No, no, no, no oh

Feeling Good- Micheal Bublé

Feeling Good- Micheal Bublé

“Feeling good” is the title as well as what we found to be a theme of the song. There is a huge emphasis on the theme of Nature due to constant reference to animals, natural settings and insects. This theme coexists with the image of freedom and personal connection.

“You know how I feel” is repeated throughout the song, accompanied by an animal or inanimate object.

“Stars when you shine, you know how I feel”.

“Fish in the sea, You know how I feel”.

Chorus: Very simple, slow chorus. Very strong beat drop followed by a nice transition to the next verse. Strong sense of repetition on “It's a new ___”, said thrice each chorus except at the end when it is repeated furthermore. “Im feeling good” is the last line in the chorus as well as a direct reference to the title.

The main technique and theme is repetition, especially during mentions of nature. “Fish in the sea, you know how I feel,” personification used.

Verse 1: Main focus is on the sky. “Birds flying high”, “Sun”, “Breeze”. Strong references to elements and nature. Repetition, like in most of the verses, is very prevalent in verse one. For example, “You know how I feel.” is repeated three times in this verse, and “I’m feeling good.” is repeated twice. This constant repetition is probably prevalent to emphasise how good he feels.

Verse 2: Focus on the sea. “Fish”, “River”. “Running free” symbolises the freedom that nature offers + happiness. Rhyme is very prevalent in this verse, for example, the lines “River running free” and “Blossom on a tree”. This is used to add a musical quality to the song.

Verse 3: Bugs, creatures, dragonflies, butterflies. General reference to the smaller creatures symbolising how little it takes to feel joy. Longest verse so far due to the conjunction of themes with “world and earth”. An oxymoron is present in this verse “And this old world is a new world”, as well as internal rhyme “And this old world-” “And this bold world-”.

Verse 4: Stars and freedom. Weak, short filler verse. Personification is present in this verse “Stars when you shine, you know how I feel.”, probably to show how obvious how he is feeling is to everyone around him.

Final Chorus: Extended, plenty of repetition. Quite a summary of everything knowing “how I feel”. We get a clearer image of the coexistence between freedom/longing for freedom and nature, along with his personal connection with both themes.

Erwin, Freya and Adriana
