Manez- 3 things As an eighth grade Algebra teacher I feel I bring: 1. Patience and respect: I value the ideas of each individual and recognize the different learning styles within the room. At my school all students are accelerated in math therefore I make sure to reach every student no matter how long that may take me. 2. Inspiration: I express my passion and excitement to learn and better myself, which gets students to think similarly about themselves. Something I want to continue to build upon in my professional development is: How to incorporate emerging technologies whether it is for whole class activities or to help differentiate lessons based on students’ skills. I find it interesting that everyone in your school is accelerated in math. I am guessing you might have a specialty or private school focus? Passion is something that students can detect and it is very much a driving factor when students feel it to. I hope that the inclusion of many different technologies such as the use of voicethreads, padlets, etc. can prove to be beneficial for you to extend the learning and engagement beyond the walls of the classroom.
