Digital literacy, meaning to have the advanced knowledge of the use of ICT especially in education, should be maintained effectively and critically.

Connection with my prior knowledge:

My previous experience of using technology, for example, use of ai, different websites, use of different digital devices for learning, helped me to understand the importance of Digital Literacy.

It would be more interesting:

In my opinion, If there were practical implementations of some advanced use of technology in the classroom to deeply convey the emergence of developing Digital Literacy.

We should be ethically responsible while using digital technologies, especially on online where it matters how we behave.

Connection with my prior knowledge:

Although I have already been maintaining the digital citizenship, I was not aware of this.

It would be more interesting:

If a task had been given to investigate how much the students were maintaining their Digital Citizenship.

Then revealing the consequences of not maintaining the ethical law on online.

In this way, I think, it could be more engaging and the students would feel thrilled.

Learned how impactful technology is in language learning. The use of technology in learning a language can be multidimensional, cognitive, metacognitive and highly affective. Also, I learned the transformation of CALL to TELL.

I am already taking a lot of help from technology to learn English and Spanish. And now from this class I can use technology more effectively in real situation.

It would be more interesting:

I think, If we could use technology in different language learning practically in the class shortly rather than just discussing the theories. People remember the actions more than the words.

Learned how to use online tools for enhancing reading skills. Websites like British council, BBC learning english are very helpful. Also learned how much technology is helpful in L2 learning. CMC technologies, reading level classification tools, speech synthesis and speech recognition, E-books etc. are the most commonly used tools for reading.

I was already aware of some online language tools connected to reading, like BBC, e-books, etc. which helped me to connect with the new tools introduced in the class.

Different teaching style:

The class also could be conducted using student autonomous approach where every students are supposed to show or inform about one online tool for reading.

Learned the use of different Linguistic Feedback Tools(LiFT), i.g., the ginger software, the grammarly software; the difference between Automated Marking Tool and LiFT.

As I used grammarly before, it made the concept of using LiFT in writing easier.

Different teaching style:

I think this lesson also can be taught in task-based environment.

Learned how to teach and learn speaking with the help of technology. For example, using podcasts, Cambly, Duolingo, etc.

The previous experience of using Duolingo and Cambly helped to understand the concepts of teaching and speaking with technology.

There are also many websites and apps for developing speaking. The teacher can teach in a different way where the students would share many websites like this in the class or in a group.

Learned how to use podcasts (TED talks), digital audio books (digitalbook.io), online audio transcribe apps to enhance listening teaching and learning.

As I used some of the apps to develop listening I was familiar with the process.

The teacher can teach in a different way where the students would share many websites like this in the class or in a group.

Learned how students can develop their vocab and grammar using technology. For example apps like educaplay, canvas, kahoot etc. can be used to develop vocab level and websites like BBC learning English, Britishcounsil, etc. are helpful to enhance grammar level. There are so many exercises for grammar practice for different level of learners. Also grammar and vocabs can be learned through games.

As a 2nd language learner I had already explored some of the websites and apps before the class was conducted.

The teacher also can tell the students to find articles about the use of technology or websites for language teaching.

Learn how English language can be taught through social media like facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube, etc. Reels (short videos) are effective in learning English. Online classes on youtube and facebook attracts the students. On facebook many pages share vocabs and grammars with vivid visuals.

I previously worked as a graphics designer in several language platforms especially for GEL (Guide to English Language). That is how I have the experience of making the eye catchy English learning posters.

Different teaching style:

The teacher could arrange a discussion on how to use the social media in a more innovative and creative way.

Learned how concordance can help the students and the teachers in learning and teaching English language. It is a great source of vocabs by which the students can learn different use of a same word in different contexts, the complex structures, and different grammatical rules. This system of language analysis is called corpus linguistics.

I did not have any knowledge about concordance or corpus learning before. It is a fresh thing to me.

Different teaching style:

The teacher could give an activity so that the students can understand the real use of corpus practically.

Learned how the combination of face to face teaching with computer technology (blended learning) can be helpful for the students. Learned about the blended learning models like community of inquiry, continuum model, k-12 model, desirable blends, etc. Also there are some conceptualizations, such a quantity based, quality based, synchronous blended learning, etc.

Although nowadays we use blended learning in daily life, we are not aware of this. However, Now we are.

This can be also taught in a task based environment.

Learned how online sources like Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), Virtual worlds and games, and various learning apps are helpful in assessment, teacher preparation and learners assistance. Also various meeting apps like Zoom, Google meet, Skype helps to teach online smoothly.

We experienced the best outcome of online learning in Covid period.

The teaching style could be more learner centric.

Learned how games can be incorporated in learning and teaching. Learned terms related to gamification, like Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPG). The incorporation of games in learning motivates the students in learning, especially in completing new challenges.

Played games like word puzzles, Duolingo (learning app with gaming interface), etc.

The teacher can start the lesson playing a game.

Learned how Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) helps in learning English in real time. The users can feel live and create real life situations as they want.

Previously had a little idea about VR technology for gaming. However, now I know how this can benefit in learning.
