In what ways does the Judicial Branch seem like a viable avenue for addressing your issue? it is one structured and two fair. the judicial system was made to be fair and to give a chance for both sides to win. In what ways are (or should) the courts be limited? the courts can have limitted amount of opinion and depending on the case that can be hurtful, but I think if the courts are not that limmitted and as long as it stays fair, then nothinng should be limmited. How might you utilize the courts to address or resolve your issue? using the court can be powerful because the jugde (s) in that case have all the power instead of fighting 2,000 people who are to ignorant to open there eyes. the jugdes and jruy are usually not bias and give a fair chance to both sides.

Yes, the judicial branch has a huge impact on immigration. It blocked provisions 1,2, and 4 that would’ve made it a lot easier for states to profile and criminalize immigrants. The courts are limited because they allow the decision to be open for future constitutional challenges. The courts could address immigration if they took a look at how the government is handling immigration through federal agencies like ICE and if what they’re doing is constitutional or not.

State governments can address topics before the federal government because it could take a lot longer in the federal government. Because California is one of the most affected states by immigration, it would be important for California to have the ability to make decisions on immigration. California would have pro-immigrant laws and would make it a better state for immigrants than somewhere like Texas. Some ways where states can't help immigration is the fact that immigration would be different in different parts of the country.

1.) What do I want my story to be about? Why is my story important to me? Why do I think this story should be important to others?
I want my story to focus on the inner-workings of how people are fixing immigration at a higher level. Not the presidential level but more of congress and government. I want my story to be people sharing there thoughts on how our government can help immigration reform for real. harsh, cold, truthful opinions on our governments failing immigration process.

2.) How does the government (local, state, federal, etc.) contribute to the issue I'm studying?
the government controls the where, the what, the who, and the when for immigration. the divide in our government leaves no room for both sides to understand each other and realize immigration is good for everyone.

3.) Who are the stakeholders involved in my issue? In other words, who is impacted by my issue? Who is working to address my issue? Who is fighting to resist changes regarding policy surrounding my issue?

a Big factor in the fight for immigration reform is the many organizations focused on immigration, wether its about getting citizenship for immigrants or knocking on doors for petitions.
groups like this too in our government are monumental d
The group, who call themselves the ‘Closers,’ includes Reps. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., Lucille Roybal-Allard, D-Calif., Nydia Velázquez, D-N.Y., Judy Chu, D-Calif., Yvette Clarke, D-N.Y., and Karen Bass, D-Calif.

4.) Who are important people and organizations that deserve mention in my segment of the podcast? The closers and others that have had huge impacts on immigration. But I also want to give a shout-out in the podcast to the immigrants themselves.

5.) What are tactics that changemakers are using to address my issue? What are tactics that resisters are using to stymie change regarding my issue?

6.) What are the most interesting things I've learned as a result of my research?

1.) What do I want my story to be about? Why is my story important to me? Why do I think this story should be important to others?
I want my story to be about what I can do to help make the Immigration Process easier and more accessible to others. I am an Immigrant myself and I would love to see happier immigrants immigrating safely. This should be important to others as well because Immigrants are EVERYWHERE here in Cali and it is important to be cognizant of that and they deserve to be here.

2.) How does the government (local, state, federal, etc.) contribute to the issue I'm studying?
The Government has helped in many ways. They have re-enforced the border security and they have all the power to make someone legal here or not. They are also making laws and executive orders that help immigrants stay say either by staying in Mexico until their asylum forms are given back to them. Many other acts have helped to such as DACA
3.) Who are the stakeholders involved in my issue? In other words, who is impacted by my issue? Who is working to address my issue? Who is fighting to resist changes regarding policy surrounding my issue?
I think the immigrants are the most impacted by my issue due to the fact that some of them are trying to come into the US but can't. I also think the US is impacted since lots of the immigrants make up the agricultural work. Especially here in CA since we are on the border.

4.) Who are important people and organizations that deserve mention in my segment of the podcast? I think people that have outstanding records advocate for immigrants and immigration. Some local organizations would be really important to add them to it and promote them.

5.) What are tactics that changemakers are using to address my issue? What are tactics that resisters are using to stymie change regarding my issue? Keeping families together, making sure they are safe, and defying the root causes of immigration.

6.) What are the most interesting things I've learned as a result of my research? What do I absolutely want to include in my segment? I would want to say how I am an immigrant and how it changed my life and how it is affecting other people's life. I have learned a lot about the government's role in the whole process of making immigration easier and more accesible.

7.) What changes, if any, would I like to see as a result of the research I've done? I would love to see more immigrants applying for green cards or immigrant visas and I would love to see people immigrating legally. I would also like to see a change in the place they are immigrating from.

8.) Where are there gaps/holes in my research? What new information do I need to seek out and discover before I begin drafting my script? I think there aren't too many holes because it all matches well with Ian's and Katie's research. I should seek out some more local organizations.

No. The US is not doing enough to address the problems with immigration. The new administration has only been outlining "strategic plans" and hasn't acted on any of those plans. Yes, those plans they have are currently bills that have to go through Congress, so it takes a while for them to get through and get signed into law. But there are other things that the president can do. There has been a lack of follow-through addressing corruption in Central America when they went to Guatemala as an effort to "address root causes". So far, it's just been all talk and no real work to back it up.
