Jakiw Palij was a former concentration camp guard. He lived peacefully in New York for many years, but when he was identified, there were protests in front of his house where neighbors said things like, "We don't want a Nazi living among us." Finally, at 95 years old, he was deported to Germany in 2018. Germany didn't want to accept him, but did so for humanitarian reasons because he was already very old.

This reveals to us how both the neighbors of the places where these people hid to protect themselves and their own country rejected them, taking into account that the only way they were accepted in their own country was because of their humanitarian rights. This shows us that the culprits behind the Holocaust are already receiving punishment even if they are not in jail, so it is not necessary to imprison them when they are already being punished for their actions in the public eye.

What is the point in punishing War Criminals when they are about to die, at this point just let them finish their lives.

If possible, the money should be diverted to aged Holocaust survivors in difficult financial circumstances, to members of the second generation and to Holocaust education. A show trial does not help the many people who are still suffering the after-effects of the Holocaust seventy years later. Nor do I believe a show trial does anything for Holocaust education. Teach it properly in schools instead. I am a member of the second generation. (BBC News)

In the document, "The Effects of Trauma on Holocaust Survivors After the War" it speaks about Holocaust survivors who still have trauma after many years. "Ultimately, symptoms of PTSD in Holocaust survivors have been recognized even more than seventy years after the Holocaust." (Braker).This shows how even after 70 years people still continue to suffer with trauma from the Holocaust. People continue to use resources to find and punish Nazis while they could be using these resources for counseling and mental help for those who still suffer from PTSD. I think using these resources to help people is more important than finding and punishing people who are in their eighties and nineties.

This article tells about a former Nazi soldier that that named John Demjanjuk. The article states "On March 10, 2009, a German judge issued an order directing that Demjanjuk, 89, be arrested on suspicion of assisting in the murder of at least 29,000 Jews at the Sobibor extermination center in Nazi-occupied Poland during World War II." This shows that no matter the age of the criminal they are still guilty of their crimes they have committed in the past.
