Socialization is not only an adaptive strategy for human survival, but also a product of the coordinated evolution of psychological, cognitive, physiological and socio-cultural systems. Its role is reflected in health and happiness at the individual level, and at the group level, it maintains the social structure and cultural continuity. Modern research further reveals that the lack of socialization (such as "virtual isolation" in the digital age) may cause new social pathology problems, highlighting its irreplaceability.

HU YI

Question 1: What do you think the advantages of WeChat are?
Question 2: What do you think the disadvantages of WeChat are?
Universal Patterns in Respondents' Opinions

• High Affirmation of Communication Convenience: Most of my relatives and friends believe that WeChat has greatly facilitated communication. Whether it's daily greetings, work exchanges, or urgent matter notifications, information can be quickly conveyed. The voice call and video call functions enable people who are far apart to communicate "face to face" at any time.

• Popularity of Social Functions: The Moments and group chat functions are frequently used by everyone. Moments has become a platform for sharing life moments and showcasing personal charm. Group chats, on the other hand, facilitate communication and interaction among different groups such as families, classmates, and colleagues, enhancing the emotional bond among them.

• High Practicality of the Payment Function: WeChat Pay is widely applied in various scenarios, such as shopping, bill payment, and money transfer.

Potential Applications of WeChat in Human Development and Communication

• Promoting Interpersonal Communication: WeChat has broken the limitations of time and space, making people's communication more timely and efficient. It enables long-distance relationships to be better maintained and also provides more opportunities to make new friends, enriching people's social circles.

• Driving Information Dissemination: It plays an important role in information dissemination, accelerating the spread and sharing of knowledge. Various official accounts and Channels have become important channels for information release, allowing people to quickly obtain all kinds of information and improve their own qualities and knowledge levels.

WeChat has a wide range of positive impacts on human development and communication, bringing many conveniences and opportunities to people's lives. However, at the same time, attention should be paid to addressing issues such as information overload and privacy protection to better leverage its advantages.

Wechat,

Benefits:

Quick contact with friends, rich social features, sharing life through the circle of friends, business and personal value empowerment, high security, support for cross-platform use, powerful payment function.

Cons:

1.Chat logs can't be saved,

2.Privacy risk,

3.Blurred lines between work and life,

4.The flood of low-quality content, the spread of false information, information overload, and a large amount of information makes users fall into the ocean of information.

GAOWENHAO

LIUYUAN

LANG YIPENG

HU DIE

WU SHUANG

Part A.

In the survey of relatives and friends, obvious patterns emerged. Approximately 80% of the respondents indicated that their daily use of social media mainly focuses on two platforms, WeChat and Douyin. WeChat is used for daily communication with family members, colleagues, and friends. It is very convenient for sending text messages, making voice calls, or having video chats. Douyin, on the other hand, is more often used for entertainment and relaxation, allowing people to unwind by watching short videos. Moreover, about 75% of the people mentioned that social media enables them to keep up with their friends' life updates more promptly, such as through the Moments on WeChat or the dynamic sharing on Instagram. In addition, 60% of the respondents believed that social media is also helpful in acquiring knowledge. For example, on platforms like Zhihu and Bilibili, people can learn various professional knowledge and practical life tips.

Part B.

I think social media has undeniable potential value for human development and communication. From the perspective of communication, it has greatly expanded people's social circles, enabling individuals from different regions and backgrounds to easily establish connections, and promoting the rapid circulation of information and the collision of ideas. For instance, cross-border communication is no longer restricted by high communication costs and time differences, and people can share their experiences and thoughts with each other at any time. In terms of human development, social media has become an incubator for innovation and creativity. Creators can showcase their works on the platform, attract attention and feedback, and then continuously improve and develop them. At the same time, it also provides a new way for education. Online courses, knowledge sharing, and other content give more people the opportunity to receive education and enhance themselves. However, social media also brings some challenges. For example, information overload can easily distract people's attention, and excessive dependence on virtual social interaction may affect one's real-life social skills. Therefore, we should use social media rationally and critically to make it better serve human development and communication.

          ——（XU BAOHUA）
