Hitler wanted western Czechoslovakia because of the high German speaking population. Ultimately Neville, Edouard, Benito, and Hitler met up at the Munich agreement and compromised that Hitler can have that section, but he cant take any more land from Czechoslovakia. He ultimately broke that promise however.

Invasion of Poland

On September 1st 1939, The Wehrmacht invaded Poland, not long after France and Britain declared war on Germany. However months passed and no actions were taken as the French and British hunkered down on the French German border

Germany invades France

The invasion of France ultimately lead to Paris being taken. This lead to France signing an agreement with Germany to divide France into 2 regions, occupied France, and just France, with the new capital in France being in Vichy.

Battle of Britain

The battle of Britain was mostly an air war between the British RAF/Royal air Force, and the German Luftwaffe. Germany was trying to bomb Britain into surrender, but ultimately to no avail, as the RAF repelled the Luftwaffe to the point of retreat.

China in Turmoil

Before the war between 1925 to 1934, China was having many internal conflicts, most prominently the battle between the KMT (Kuomintang), and the CCP (Chinese Communist Party. In these battles the KMT under the order of Chiang Kai-shek, was trying to completely wipe out the CCP, a brutal event known as the 'The Long March', resulted,ted in the deaths of over 93,000 KMT soldiers and civilians.

Japan invades China

In 1931, Japan invaded Manchuria, which was only the start of more Chinese territory being lost to Japan. When China turned to the league of nations for help, Japan left the league of nations and continued the invasion of China. This inevitably lead to almost all of northern China being taken, and 1,000's of Chinese civilians paid the price, most notably in Nanjing, where 300,000 Chinese civilians were killed

Growing tensions

The U.S. had little involvement for the majority of these events, only truly getting involved after Pearl Harbor, but we were providing materials to various nations. When Japan became allies with Germany in 1940, we responded with an embargo that ceased all trade with Japan which is highly significant as Japan got the majority of their resources from us.
