Evidence one is that the birds out of the portulaca and tribulus plants. Before the drought there was an average of 9.7 portulaca seeds per month before the drought, an average of 3.7 seeds during the drought, and an average of .36 seeds after the drought. Before the drought the beak depth was 9.65 mm. The average beak length was 10.71 mm. After the drought the average beak depth was 10.55 mm. The average beak length was 11.61 mm. 3 years before the drought there was an average of 393 millimeters of rainfall. During the drought there was an average of millimeters of rainfall, 3 years after the drought there was an average of 630 millimeters of rainfall. The main reason this is all happening is because of natural selection. Natural selection occurs when the traits affects survival or the ability to reproduce. There's a process if ones not there then the other ones dies. Or if one dies the other died because they don't have anything to go off of. Like when the birds eat the tribulus and portulaca seeds. When the seeds aren't there the birds die. Overtime the beaks have adapted to the way the eat the seeds so when a beak isn’t adapted (as in the beak not being long enough) they can't eat the seeds which causes them to die.
