Children increase their math, science, and general reasoning abilities when building with blocks, topics that build on students’ firm foundation of counting and number sense, basic addition and subtraction, place value, and the ability and confidence to apply their knowledge to solve important problems.
Children become intensely engaged in play. Pursuing their own purposes, they tend to tackle problems that are challenging enough to be engrossing yet not totally beyond their capacities. Lead to powerful learning, in addition, when several children grapple with the same problem, they often come up with different approaches, discuss various strategies, and learn from one another. These aspects of play can promote thinking and learning in mathematics as well as in other areas.

Young children explore patterns and shapes, compare sizes, and count things.

At different ages they develop some abilities along with the building blocks, for example in the earliest age they develop the understandment of "on" "next to" by placing the building blocks, later at age of 2 they recognize that the blocks don't fall when they put it in a tower. At 4 years, they can use multiple spatial relations, extending their buildings in multiple directions and with multiple points of contact among the blocks, showing flexibility in how they build and integrate parts of the structure.

As well this can be used as a printed resource, because children will be used to use these objects and they will have a greater ability of understandment. As you can see in the pictures I attached there are several worksheets that use the building blocks as an activity without the actual blocks.

My Pals are Here: (Book Preface) It is a comprehensive, task-based and learner-centered programme designed to provide pupils with a solid foundation in Maths and opportunities to become effient problem solvers.

This is a very interesting programme used to teach Math in preschool and primary. For preschool, teachers also use concrete materials and games and the book as a complement of all the strategies they use to teach the basic steps of the mathematical thinking and comprehension. Its methodology is suitable for kids and it´s easy to explain and work with them, according to some teachers that have been working with this programme.

Teachers say that, according to their experience, this textbook is a challenge for kids, it is always motivating them to go further than the basics and also place them in real contexts to solve problmes they can find in their daily life. It is not a traditional way to teach, it is a book that develop higher levels of mathematical thinking and critical thinking.

IXL: This is a platform to teach and learn Math. I had the opportunity to work with is this year and I believe this is a very good resourse for kids to learn and practice their learning. It works as a complement of everything the do in school, and it is really motivating for them since win special prizes once they make and achieve new levels and skills. Parents pay for the use of this platform, bur the price is no so high and it is an excellent tool for the students. Students from all courses from PreK to higher levels may find great exercises to make.

https://www.ixl.com/math/

POSTER BOARD

Posters board are interactive teaching tools. Posters board help visual learners better understand new math concepts, and challenge students to participate in new ways. This tool is an appropriate material and opportunity to help young children understand math topic. Children need to learn about circles, triangles, squares, rectangles and ovals and it could be through using posters. With this material teachers expose children to various shapes and help them analyse dimensional shapes, concepts and orientations. Moreover, with the poster board teachers can identify shapes such equilateral, isosceles, scalene, and right. Children can outline the triangles with colored tape. For example, they might make right triangles red and scalene triangles blue. Also teachers can teach math words with posters board incorporating mathematical words into the existing word wall color code in order to make it easier for children to notice them.
