Summary: According to The WHO regional director Carissa Ethenne, Latin America is being too hasty to reopen and could potentially suffer major setbacks. On the border of Colombia and Venezuela, cases have increased tenfold in the past couple weeks. Death rates have also been climbing in Mexico, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Bolivia, and parts of Argentina. “Etienne said governments must monitor travel very carefully because reopening to tourism can lead to setbacks. That has happened in the Caribbean, where several countries that had virtually no cases have experienced spikes as tourism resumed.” Latin America has recorded 8.4 million cases and 314,000 deaths, the worst of any region in the world.    

On Tuesday the remains of Mayan city Chichén Itzá joined the list.

The city in Yucatán was built in the 9th and 10th Centuries - the stepped pyramid El Castillo displayed Mayan astronomical knowledge. It features a total of 365 steps, the number of days in the solar year.

In Peru, hundreds of women and their families are suffering from the “shadow pandemic”. There have been 1,423 women reported missing in Peru since the country entered a state of emergency in mid march. There were warnings of this in april. What a “shadow pandemic” is is a global increase in domestic violence in women and girls. Peru isn't the only place struggling with this right now. Tunisia to Argentina and the United States among many other places are having the same issues. 

In Venezuela, experts are worried that the Coronavirus may take over the country. This is due to the uncontrolled poverty and the damaged health care. To explain, as the Coronavirus spreads, there will be more people infected who will be unable to receive the proper treatment, and this unfortunately leads to many deaths around the country. Manuela Bolívar states "Every Venezuelan right now is facing the death,”. This shows that Venezuela is at high risk of collapsing.

Venezualans exposed to covid 19 are put in Quarintine motels. are more acuratly a prison as everything from eating to sleeping is controled and overveiw by the venizualian goverment. poorly maintained, crowded and unsanitary, these Quarantine Motelsbeing called are often hotspots for covid 19 are an understatment as most are infested with vermin. 

Summary: On Sunday, one of Ecuador's most active volcanoes erupted. The ash has covered. 80,000 hectares of farming land. The volcano isn't surrounded by civilization but when the volcano erupted the ashes (with help from wind) traveled all the way to Ecuador's agriculture and cow lands. Ecuador has had to clean up ash off of crops and have also had to use food ration for the cattle.

Two hurricanes have been predicted to hit Louisiana next week. The two hurricanes are named Marco and Laura. Even though the two hurricanes are hundreds of miles apart they are believed to overlap at a certain point. The two hurricanes aren't a hundred percent sure going to hit landforms as hurricanes since their paths might diverge or they might die out.

Venezuela’s oil industry is falling apart due to years of mismanagement, corruption, and falling prices. Analysts warn that ruptured pipelines, rusting tankers and rickety refineries are contributing to an ecological disaster. Between 2010 and 2016, the PDVSA was responsible for more than 46,000 spills of crude and other pollutants. In 2016, state engineers estimated that tens of thousands of gallons of oil were seeping into the lake each month.

In the last four years, Puerto Rico’s billion dollar debt crisis, devastation caused by hurricanes, earthquakes, and the mass exodus of half a million to the mainland, have all thrown the territory’s relationship to the U.S. in the national spotlight. This November, Puerto Ricans will vote in the statehood referendum of 2020, which asks a question that has been at the heart of Puerto Rican politics for decades: Should the territory be admitted to the union as a state?
