1E.Khan/Scioscia.Temperate Deciduous Forests by Colby Scioscia

This padlet is for the biome, Temperate Deciduous Forests. This biome is unique from all the others because of how many of them are all over the world and its very average temperature and rain fall. This biome also provides homes for many animals and plants that can contribute to the atmosphere and the land around them.

The Temperate Deciduous Forest has many important abiotic factors. One of the most important is the rainfall, which is a lot. It rains an average of 75-150 cm. This means that many plants can be supported here.
Another important abiotic factor is temperature which is usually pretty cold. This means the plants that do thrive here have to make adaptions that let it live in this temperature.
Finally, an abiotic factor in this biome is the wind. Wind affects this biome too because plants must adapt to the wind by growing stronger roots so they aren't blown away.

One ecological service of Temperate Deciduous Forests is tourism. Tourism is an important service because it informs others of the stability of these forests. Tourism also creates jobs for people who know a lot about Temperate Deciduous Forests.
Another service done by these Forests is that they are sink holes for CO2. The CO2 is stored in trees and plants, and help the environment out by reducing human-caused climate change.

One adaptation for animals in the Temperate Deciduous Forest is that the ground squirrel, a primary consumer, has adapted to have bigger cheeks to store food and bring food back to its home. Another adaptation for the ground squirrel is its powerful and strong back legs that allows the squirrel to run faster and jump higher. Some other animals adapt to have large fur coats that help them survive the cold winters.
