Typically made of mainly wood (except for the keys those are metal) but for flutes most are made out of metal
FUN FACT: *currently looking for one*

Similarities

It's played by blowing (which cause a column of air to vibrate inside a hollow tube)
Comes in pairs whooo good things come in pairs(from highest sounding to lowest sounding)
- Piccolos and Flutes
- Oboes and Cor Anglais (but normally cor anglais is not used in normal orchestras)
- Clarinets and Bass Clarinets (this is kind of common sense)
- Bassoons and Double Bassoons (umm duh?)

Differences

The mouthpieces
- The piccolos and flutes have an oval shaped hole which the players would blow ACROSS
No reed (the poor piccolo and flute).
Single reed (Clarinet),
Double reed (Oboe, Cor Anglais, Bassoon and Double Bassoon)

- 2 groups
-kettle drums, glockenspiel, tubular bells, xylophone, celesta belongs to the pitched or tuned percussion instruments' group
-bass drum, triangle, woodblock, tambourine, whip, tamtam,castanets, cymbals, snare drums, maracas, gong, chimes belongs to the unpitched or untuned percussion instruments
- Rare that all the percussions will play together in one piece

HOW TO SOUND A NOTEEEE
1. As the player blows into the cup-shaped mouthpiece, she makes them vibrate(similar to a double reed in an oboe)
2. The air column in the tube also vibrates as a result.

4. The player can sound several notes by altering the tension of her lips.(The tighter her lips, the higher the pitch)
5. The lowest note of the series is called the fundamental.

-The first four members have four strings that are of gut/nylon/metal that are stretched across a hollow wooden body. They are fixed to the tailpiece at one end, then taken across the bridge to the tuning- pegs. Sometimes the player uses his fingertips to pluck the strings (pizzicato) -but the usual way of causing them to vibrate is by drawing a bow across them. This is a wooden string with more than 200 strands of horsehair stretched tightly along it.
Special effects a violin can do
pizzicato- plucking the strings with the fingers
Con sordino-with the mute, giving it a hushed, silvery tone
Tremolo- Usually consists of quick repetitions of a note by making rapid up-down movements of the bow
Col legno- The player uses the wooden part of the bow instead of the horsehair
