Mentally retarded and physically deformed, the separation of parents went to live with her mother, who worked as a cook at Crystal Lake Camp.
In fact, it does not drown and is surprisingly successful in surviving, feeding on animals caught in the woods around the lake and stealing around for its needs, becoming almost a beast. Pamela, believing her son dead, is crazy about pain: one day he finds in a shed Barry and Claudette, the same animators who had not paid enough attention to his son Jason, and while the two love them, he kills them furiously.
The mother, mentioned among the suspects, decided to leave the camp, which opened the following summer. During the last preparations for the camp's opening, however, a mysterious fire broke out, such a accident occurred the following year when someone poisoned the water supply.
Cristal Lake campsite seemed to be permanently closed, until in 1980 Steve Christy, assisting a group of teenagers, decided to reopen it to the public. In the following days Pamela returned to the camp and killed anyone involved in the reopening of the campsite. There was only one girl, Alice, who struggled with the manager, managed to eliminate her, decapitating her on the beach of Cristal Lake.
Jason witnessed that scene and has periodically emerged from the waters of Cristal Lake with his hockey mask, and makes his revenge on all those who try to re-open his campsite. His first victim was Alice, who was killed in his own home two months after the previous episodes. The first to kill him was Tommy Jarvis, who later resurrected him in an attempt to revive his body making him become an immortal creature by superhuman power. Since then, several attempts have been made to stop it, but no one seems to have really succeeded.

Jason also possesses a superhuman strength, which allows him to lift tremendous weights without effort: it is unclear if his strength has a limit. It also has almost endless physical resistance, surviving wounds of firearms and even decapitation. The transformation into the latest cyborg has made it even more powerful than before, making it infinitely stronger and more resistant than the past; thanks to its metal parts it has become basically indestructible.

Jason seems to possess paranormal powers: his ability would be the ability to teleport anywhere in the Crystal Lake area, allowing him to seize his unsuspecting victims behind. Its further capacity is underwater survival: in the film it can be noticed that Jason is immune to drowning, perhaps because it was the cause of his "death" as a young man. Finally, it seems that conventional weapons do not harm Jason in any way; several times he is shot or stabbed, showing just a few signs of stunning and almost never emitting sounds or groans of pain.

The original film was conceived by Sean S. Cunningham, then the saga was continued thanks to other directors who maintained the same narrative mechanisms in the first film. All the films belong to the slasher genera, so characterized by crude murders, possibly spectacular and grangignoleschi. There have been nine sequels, one spin-off / crossover and one remake / reboot, for a total of 12 films.
