         <description><![CDATA[<div>The text was absolutely worthwhile because it pertains to what students strive and struggle the most: motivation to read. Although it is a difficult task, teachers can find ways to make reading relevant, valuable, appealing and enjoyable. </div><div>Regarding my reading, I did not have much problems with the text, there were no complex vocabulary, it was well-organised and friendly-user.</div><div>Personally, I take this as a challenge and I would like to keep learning about this topic. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Why did I choose this text?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Although the other texts seemed interesting as well, I felt that this one would help me even more to address students’ needs when reading. As the title says “7 Rules of Engagement”, I, as a pre-service teacher, need to know how to motivate students to read and maintain that motivation throughout the term as well. That is why I picked this text, because it provided me with many interesting strategies to be applied in the classroom.</div><div> </div><div>For instance, I realised that reading is not an individual activity, it could be also a collaborative one. This is very important for the reason that students are used to read individually and in silence, and it would be very difficult for me to integrate other strategies that involve collaborative reading into the classroom. However, it is not an impossible task, which now I know since I read this text.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Nowadays, as students prefer technological devices more than anything else, the value of reading has been fading away. Most students relate reading with boredom for the reason that in the classroom they have not been taught how to read and actually how to enjoy it. Hence, as a teacher my challenge is to foster reading habits in my students. Furthermore, with the appropriate activities and strategies (I will mention them later) I can make students be more curious, interested and willing to read.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Students need to be aware of their capabilities. Some of them are very good at reading, but they do not even notice it, and some others are not that good, but they think that it is an impossible task and that they are never going to be proficient readers. These ideas inside them may be a consequence of the bad experiences when reading. <br><br></div><div>Therefore, I have to encourage my students to try and never stop trying because in this way they would realise that they can actually be proficient readers with practice. If they are willing to try they would be more confident about themselves, and they would believe that they can read indeed. </div>]]></description>
