The story tells the adventure of a boy and his dog, Newton. They go through their day involved in motion and stability activities, like throwing a ball. I chose this book because it involves the everyday life of a typical kindergartener, making it relatable.

This book teaches students how animals like woodpeckers use the environment to meet their needs. I chose this book because it is said to be playful and colorful. Those two things are sure to grab the attention of young children.  Educational books can be too informational and overwhelming for some children, in my opinion. This book is kid-friendly and educational.

He is met with severe weather, a tornado is coming their way. I like this book and would use it in my classroom as a way to teach children the importance of taking precautionary measures that could save their lives. It would be a good opening for a tornado drill done by the school.
