Water leaves your house through pipes. It goes to water treatment plants. This is how water is cleaned for reuse.

Screening: Water from the sewers reaches the plant. Here, it goes through huge screens and removes large objects.
Grit Removal Chamber: Next, the water reaches the grit removal chamber. Here, smaller objects are removed from the water.
Aeration: Here, the water flows into 2 large tanks. Air and bacteria are added to the water, making it bubble. The bacteria break down any material left in the water.
Disinfection: Workers in the plant add even more chemicals to kill germs that could make people sick.
Discharge: Now the water is clean, drinkable, and clean enough to go to the environment.
